Folks, anyone here have the chance to play on of these digital pianos? It's by Williams. I'm all set to buy the new Yamaha NP-30, but this unit is only $100 more, and offers more "controller options", plus 88 weighted keys compared to the NP-30's 76 semi-weighted.

Squeak, have you tried the NP-30? I'm curious to know what you think of it...I haven't had a chance to play one yet.

Haven't tried it yet. I'm all set to buy the NP-30, and at $299 it's a steal. However, the Williams Encore offers much more for just $100 more than the NP-30.

I wouldn't be using the Williams for gigs, it would simply be used as "bang on digital" but more importantly it would be used as a midi controller to a new Roland SonicCell. I figured at $399.., having 88 weighted keys, and pitch and mod wheels.., (those two options are well worth the extra $100 when compared to the NP-30)

I must agree...but do you know the track record of the Williams?

Williams is made for Guitar Center by a company called Kaysound. Kaysound also makes the adagio piano line, as well as the cme controllers...

Does Kaysound make these instruments, or are they just a distributor?

It would be nice to try this model out..... I'm confident the Yamaha NP-30 will be a great value, and their track record is well established, but this Williams model is interesting. I swear this encore model has the exact same body as a Suzuki model. I wonder if it's really just a Suzuki under a different name.. hmmmmmmm?

HA!!! I knew I wasn't crazy....... The Williams model has the EXACT same body as the Suzuki SS-90/SS-100. Now the question is are the guts the same........?
