Played a local tavern last night with a new band we put together. Percussion, bass, 2 guitars (including myself doubling on kbs)and a female vocalist, in addition to vocals from myself and the other guitar & precussionist. 5 people, tight set-up, the place rocked. Many windows facing onto the street, and passer-bys were nosed up to the windows like kids at a Christmas Display. They eventually wandered inside, and sat down to join the rest who were already there.
Let me decribe the size of this place, they basically moved away about 6 tables, after 7:30, to make room for the band. We set up as compact as we could, the drummer and I obviously taking up the most space. This left a small dance area immediately in front, I would guesstimate about 8'x12or 15'. It was absolutely jammed. People were very courteous though, trying to avoid bumping equipment, including my boom mic which posed as a hazard to a few, but they managed to dance around it,(I know, someone's gonna get on here and say "head-set...head-set"), I'm not going to get into the dynamics issue at this point.
Just wanted to tell you that our new band rocked the place, they want us back asap, which brings me back to this thread....
I'm going into the hospital tommorrow morning, 6:45 zzzzzzz, it's a fairly serious piece of cutting (no Cancer, but serious none the less), so I wanted to take this opportunity, as strange as it may sound, to do something that I'm sure is totally unnecessary, but, I want to anyway, and that's to say THANKSfor all the information, help, honesty, and friendship that I've come to share with all of you here on the zone. I'm thinking positive, but I understand that there's always a risk with these kind of things, which is why I wanted to give a note of thanks to my "extended family".
Okay...time to move on, and with that, has anyone heard any word on Nigel and that nasty flu bug he came down with? Nigel, if you're listening, "Up and at'em guy, you got things to do"
You people are terrific..

Leon,

Now, now let's not have any of this "goodbye" crap. They're going to take great care of you and you'll be back here swiftly. Hope everything works out fantastically!

Regards,
Al

Shboom, I read your post, I wish you the best. The operation has brought a touch of humility and tenderness, it fits you well hold on to it.
You will be in my prayers, John C.
