hey john!
good to hear from you! indeed long time no... see!
well, absolutely! was a big issue to bring the pa50 in romania, from uk, since romanian prices were sky high! in the meanwhile, some other smart boys also managed to bring in some pa50 keyboards, makeing it more accesible. right in this moment, i could easily find on romanian web sites at least 5 people selling their used pa50. at about 800-950 euros. that is very good. even pa80 is now around 1300e.
as long as i had pa50 i was very happy. the best of it it's sounds, no doubt here! even only listening to the demos from their website respectively, pa sounds way better than psr. really, listening alot i realized the psr, even tyros (1), have modest sounds (IMVHO) compared with pa, no question about styles also. the sounds that yamaha was suppose to be the best (sax, flute, guitar) seemed to me at best average quality. on the other hand, the same instruments in pa sounds more natural and pleasent, to me at least.
now, i work quite alot with the computer programs, like cubase and audition. i don t do much of live performance, occassionaly i would. working with pa i soon discovered that it is a beautiful keyboard for performing on stage, the styles are more interesting than any other instrument, i once said, even more that roland g70. i still believe that! so, is the perfect keyboard in this area: sounds and styles. but it's very complicated OS (you understand it eventually, but too much buttons to press!) is just a BIG drawing back.
so, like someone here said, my ears wants pa, but i need psr!
because psr3000, even if has a little bit less impressive sounds and styles (of course not everyone agrees with that!) provide better: OS, computer connectivity and co-working, fills, intros, endings, display, usb storage.
when working with the software sequencer, sometimes you need a easier interface, rather than good sounds, you know what i mean!
in the meanwhile, i continue my work with a controller, but... still, sometimes i just want a arranger to play some music!! and even if i still have some feelings for pa50 (wow - is that wrong?!
) i think i might buy a psr3000 next time.
so, do you still believe is something wrong with me? hehe, just kidding!
oh yeah, i just saw the new ketron sd5. i might want that one this time!
