I designed it and built it myself out of those Ultimate Support pipes I've accumulated over the years. I can set it up or fold it up in about six seconds and it weighs practically nothing.
I will take some photos tomorrow.
I built it to accomodate the G70 tank, but it will work with anything.
More to come.

Don,

I'm always interested in new keyboard stand designs. The setup and fold away time is great!

Can't wait to see those photos.

Hey Uncle Dave,

I think when we finally see a picture, it will be of his wife Susan holding up the keyboard. Don I wouldn't refer to my wife as a support pipe if I were you.

O.K. I made a few snaps and put them here: http://donmasonmusic.com/temp%20photos/
for you to see if you are interested.
I still have a few tweaks to make, such as putting more caps on the exposed ends. I alwo may have to adjust the length of some of the arms after I use it on the job.
To break down, I just loosen the two knobs on the front and swing the legs up. Then loosen the two knobs on the top and close it up.
I could make the second tier so it folds flat, but I don't think it's necessary.
If you look closely you can see tobacco stains on the parts I took from a stand I had in my nightclub for six years. I will be cleaning those.
The stand is very light in weight and can be modified or adjusted almost infinitely.
You can see a little short pipe to which I clamp a light.
I may add an electrical plug box also.
Any suggestions?
DonM

Wow, you are quick. You tried it before I did. Now it should work!
I named one of the wrong too. Oh well you get the idea.

Looks very sturdy.
There's certainly a market for this one!

Just a personal idea:
I would change the position of the front knobs to the bottom of the frontbar to avoid collisions with your wrist while playing, but they might look higher as they are in the picture.

They don't seem to be in the way. I put them on that side so it folds flat. I could put them on the indiviual legs instead. If the knobs become a problem I'll do that.

Hi Don:

Is really nice the stand you made, I even think you could sell the design to a manufacturer, If I were you, I would register this stand or wherever legal protection you can get.
I know is light weight because I am familiar with the components used to made it. If you can, add the second tear, and just in case, if you deside to make some to sell, please let me know, I would be interested in a 2 tear Kb. stand.

All that's necessary for the second tier is two more Ts and two short bars. They would fit on the two vertical poles, and could be whatever length you needed.
I could do it in five minutes.
You could simply raise the laptop holder, or replace it with the second tier, as you wish.

Don ... this looks great ... but did you need a plumber's licence to do this? ...

And let's get those recordings posted ... your "decent recordings" are better than a lot of "finished products" ... ....

Don we have been playing with the Ultimate Support erector set for years..I don't think you have a shot at a patent on the designs

BTW..Don..Old man to old man...Is the G70 growing on you yet..

You really do need to find a knob for the G if you are going to display it..

Fran, I like a lot of things about the G70, particularly the live sound and the styles. I've found a couple of great guitars that suit my style. If only it wasn't so big and heavy I would consider getting one.
My plan is still to get a Korg PA800 and at least give it a trial.
As far as a patent, I don't believe it would be possible using the Ultimate Support parts. It probably would be possible to start from scratch and develop simiar or better components, but that would take a lot of startup money.
If I can build something like this it would seem reasonable for an established company to make something even better. We need LIGHT weight, versatility, and quick setup time. "My" stand does all that.
