I was wondering if there is an adapter to go from prs9000 scii port to the pc scii card inside computer so they can communicate ... so the pc could see the hard drive in the prs9000! ?
As anyone looked into the matter.
I know usually you need to get scii device like a scii zip drive to plug into the prs9000 ... but I was wondering if some kind of adapter/pc pci card, ect could be installed in pc that could do it?
I don't want to go the internal usb route ... my other option is taking out the prs9000 hard drive and attaching it to pc with laptop adapter ... so scii way would be another way ... hopefully!

Bebop,
One that I know works is Toshiba MK6411MAT .
I had one in mine, and I know of several others who purchased the same drive. It was a little over $100.!! 6.4 gig.
You can find them on the internet. It as been some time ago, but I found several on Pricewatch.com.
Also, Vince Cochran (you can find him on PSR Styles or Songs group) specializes in selling HDs for the PSRs. His come fully loaded with tons of styles and songs.

the last toshibas I got were both 20 gig for less than a $100 each. I know you can't use it all on the 9000, but you can use it all on a fast usb 2 enclosure on any laptop too.

Hi RGTAA,
The SCSI port on the PSR9000 is looking for a SCSI device to be attached to it (CD, Hard disk, zip drive etc.) The PSR9000 is the master here and the drive, CD or whatever is the slave. Now if you try to attach a computer to the PSR9000 via the SCSI port ?!? ...What options (connections) do you have on the computer - none, unless the computer has a SCSI drive as its hard disk, then you can connect to the back of the hard disk only. There is a SCSI to USB cable convertion available but this will only attach a SCSI device (disk,CD, Zip or whatever) to a computer via tha computer's USB port (the computer will remain the master in this case). This will not get you any further down the track with the PSR9000. If you use the (German made?)USB board avialable for the PSR9000, then you will be able to see the PSR's hard drive from the computer but not the computer's hard drive from the PSR.
I hope that this is of some help for you.

Jon.

Thank you for your reply Don. I shall go looking. That is a pleasant price to look at. I paid 800.00 for a hard drive and the software to use it for the Technics KN6000 and it was garbage and had to be returned. It will be nice to be treated like a customer again instead of a JERK!
I have already found that the 9000 does more then twice what the top end technics does. In my marketing area they were priced at 5995.00 Local List for the Technics and 3995 National List for the Yamaha. Go Figure:-(

i had a broken imb thinkpad laptap that I took the hard drive out and placed in prs9000 and had no problem with it. So if you can go to a computer repair shop or computer store that would allow you to try a laptop hard-drive... with ability to return it if it didn't work ... that's a possiblity... since 8 gig's should be dirt cheap now ... especically used!

I think the korg pa 80 was a little more sensitive about what it accepted then the prs9000. The pa80 didn't accept the ibm notebook hard drive but the prs9000 did! Gee I have tons of styles and midi's and I don't think I have more the 200 meg's loaded! A floopy can hold 30 or more styles and that's only a meg or so ... so you can see how 30 styles x 200meg is 6,000 styles! And I don't have 6,000 styles loaded yet ... I have a mix of midi's and styles!

So even a 2 gig hard drive would be plenty (30 styles per meg x 1,000 megs = 30,000 styles per gig ...WOW!!!) ... and yamaha can read 8 gig's in 2 gig partions.
I downloaded a 25 meg karake file 9 months ago that had a coulple thousand midi's of good quality ... and there is a program that can convert kar to midi so the prs9000 can display the lyrics.

And with the 5 banks ... you have instant access to 1,250 midis! 250 midi's in a bank!

And with direct access you have about 250 styles from hard drive that is called up in a second, in a directory. OF course you can load different directories like prs2000, cpv209, ect ... but a maximum of 250 styles can be put in any one directory or you don't see the extras.

Hmmm... this would maybe be a very interesting discussion at the Technics forum as well?
