What to do when a snaredrum in a userstyle is too loud. -Press the Functionbutton. -Go to Userstyle composer. -Press Micro. -Here you can see and hear which key represents the snaredrum. -Go back.
-Again press the Functionbutton. -press Userstyle composer on the screen. -press EDIT -press VELOCITY -if the instrumentkey is C(just an exam- ple) make the velocitychange from C to C# . On the screen you can see where you have to write C and where C#. From C to C# means that only the C instru ment will be edited. -set the velocity on -25 (example). -press execute on the screen -go back and SAVE your changed userstyle! -Now you have changed the userstyletrack! -Do the same with other tracks of the same style.

Mart,
Smart suggestion.......! But that won't go if you're are busy with your hands.. I already figured this out of course and it doesn't work and won't fade out very nice.

Yes Sander there is no fading out,but here is another trick for VA users. HOW TO CHANGE ONE DRUMINSTRUMENT FOR ANOTHER. You have a nice userstyle but one thing is not as you like it.You want the snaredrum change for a closed hihat. Read my first trick. The first part of it is the same but now you don't use the VELOCITY. This time you have to TRANSPOSE. Again you have to isolate the key that repre- sents the instrument of the drumset you want to change. As an example FROM D1 to D1#. Transpose so many halftones as necessary to the instrument you want.Than EXECUTE and the job is done. Go back and SAVE the changed userstyle on disk or Zip. In this way you can take another instrument for the Maj. the Min. and the 7th track. Sometimes this can be usefull because it brings some extra variation in the userstyle. READ THE FIRST TRICK IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. Of course you can change as many instruments as you like.

As a special request TRICK 3 ! OK Deb I think I know what you mean. In the converted styles from the X1 are in the gui- tar parts wrong tones. Once you have seen trick 1 and 2 you know that you can go to the MICRO and find out which note is the wrong one. Go to EDIT and DELETE that note in the same way as you did before. Example FROM C6 TO C6# and EXECUTE. Go back and SAVE.
Yes Sander I knew this trick but is good to see that Mart and you put them on the net. More tricks are welcome.I may have a few too but first I have to think about how to write them.
This is not really a trick but some of you possibly do not know this. When you want to morph (mix) a converted style with a preset, their Volumes are not allways the same. For example the great styles of the X1.As Mart told you how to get the wrong notes out I will tell you how to adjust the VOLUMES. Ok you have a userstyle. Press the FUNCTIONbutton. Press USER STYLE COMPOSER on the SCREEN. Press UTILITY on the SCREEN. Now you see CHANGE is white. And ADRUMS is white. Press EXPRESSION on the SCREEN. With the WHEEL you can change expression of ADRUMS now .For instance set the expressi- on on -25. PRESS EXECUTE. PRESS ADRUMS , it will be white again. Now turn the WHEEL and you see ABASS and AC.TRACK 1-6. Now you can change their EXPRESSION too. When turning the wheel to ALL you could change them together. Go BACK and SAVE. Your style is changed now and ready to morphe(mix)with a presetstyle.
Hi, Great tricks ! But i just want to mention that you CAN fade in/out on the VA-76 !! It's a fuction that can be assigned to one of the two PAD-buttons. In the VA-7 this is still not possible, even with version 2 software... Solong!

Thanks Luc for the information that you can Fade In/Out the VA76. I will call Roland immediately tomorrow and ask if they are ever going to implement that function into the VA7 software, because I miss it very much!

I just called Roland Benelux and they said that the goal of the version 2 software was to get it identical to the software of the VA76. He also said that the VA76 had the two pads, but I asked if they could implement it in the software and just touching it on the screen. He was not sure whether it would ever be implemented or that it already was. I know that it isn't implemented yet, but he will check out and call me back. Hopefully with good news
Hi Sander, I am sorry to say that the fade in/out feature is NOT implemented in OS 2.0 for VA7 (which I have installed about 2 weeks ago) and that's really a shame, if you consider that it could be easily added to one page of the touch screen menu. Too bad, but there's still hope for the future...

Bad thing Dreamer! But the technical staff called back and said that I need to call next week again to speak to Christoph Mertens (I hope I spelled that right . The employee told me that sir Mertens seems to be more up to date, he knows whats going on at the factory and he might me able to give me (see 'me' like us) further detailed information. The employee which I spoke today also said that the fade in/out option just applies to the VariPhrase version of the VA76, which differs from the VA7.
So far, not so good yet. But as Dreamer said, there's hope..
Hi, I talked to Kristof Mertens about this in person when i met him on a clubmeeting last month. He explained that the goal is to make all V-arrangers look alike. That means that the default screens should all look alike. He told me that that is the reason why they didn't include the missing pad-buttons on the touch-screen. So it is very unlikely that this feature will be included in future upgrades.
One more trick.Did you ever merged (mixed) two drumtracks.I mean you have a userstyle and than you change the drumtrack not by REPLACE but by MERGE.If the merging drum- tracks use different DRUMSETS ,you may not be happy with the result. We are talking now from the result after COPYing from a SOURCE track to a DESTINATION track. The problem could be you hear a few bars one drumset and the next bars another? This problem can be solved in the MICRO again Here you see settings for several parameters, You see Reverb, Chorus, Bank(2x).When you scroll the track and you find Bank(2x)again, you have to erase these parameters and it is done. Now the drumtrack only uses one DRUMset Try it out!
Newyorker Hi, You are right, but in the case you did the merging in the way I talked about I gave a solution for a problem. Did you mean this; merge 2 styles with diffe- rent drumsets, than make first the drumsets the same? That is a good way to mix 2 styles.
This last trick was a good one for when you trie out which combination of styles is the best for you. When you are sure that the 2 styles will give you a good result Newyorker was right. There are different situations.
VA users should print these tricks out! When you should not be a VA user print it out too. Why ? Because I think that you could become a ROLANDplayer in the future.
