Seems like there's a new, low-end keyboard on the block. Check it out

Gary,

I've never seen one of those. I had to travel to Grand Rapids (about 35 miles from Muskegon) to get some choir music today. I stopped at the Guitar Center to see what they had. The best arranger that they had in stock was a Casio WK3800 or Wk3700 whatever the latest Casio is. They didn't even have a psr3000. According to the salesperson the more expensive arrangers don't sell.

I actually think that attitude is good for us. As long as the secret is kept the less competition there will be for us.

Tom

This KB will be a hit.

This is a lower PSR 1500 with must have features.

Has
PROS
----
-4 variations / 3 intro and endings
- USB to device!!!(instant songs and style files!)
-Has must have good (22 - live,cool,sweet)sounds(live grand,strings,EP etc)
-will load styles from psr 2k,3k family
-has score/lyric display
-light weight and good looks(No model # on the rear)
-Master EQ

CONS
----
too bad no mod wheel,no midi in/out(only USB to host),no seperate L/R outs, only sustain pedal in,no pads,32 poly ....but you can't have it all

If they can sell it under $400 0r even $500,there'll be no competition.

They should have done this alot earlier.

Rumor has it the MSRP will be about $500 to $600, but this has not been confirmed. I'm checking with a local dealer later tomorrow.

Interesting. I wonder why they called it PSRS550? I still own my Yamaha PSR550. It doesn't have as many Sweet, Cool, and no live voices.

Very interesting board, somewhere between a PSR403 and a PSR 1500. They finally included enough sweet, cool, and live voices to make it worthwhile! This keyboard has a lot to offer to the home hobbyist or even serious musician who doesn't need to have a full-blown workstation. Yamaha keeps crankin them out, don't they?

It is being anncounced as a replacement of PSR-1100. I had expected that the new YGPs would have been loaded with that specification list and 88 weighted keys. I might have bought it.

However, 32 poly and lack of L & R outputs turns it into a beginner keyboard.

Regards,
George
