Hi songsters,

I've scoured the Internet searching for the lyrics to "With Every Beat Of My Heart", a late 50's or early 60's song with a female lead vocal but I can't find it.

THE CHALLEGE: Do you know this song? OK dudes and dudettes, who will be first to identify this song, lyrics, and artist? I'd love to add it to my repertoire. An mp3 or wave would be gratefully received as well.

Thanks,
Steve

Every Beat Of My Heart

Artist:
Pips (later known as - Gladys Knight & the Pips)

Billboard Top 40 Debut: 6/5/61

"Every Beat Of My Heart" Lyrics:

In every beat of my heart
There's a beat for you
In every toast of the wine
There's a toast for you

In all my conversation
You're my inspiration

I do for you

Although we're so far apart
My love is true true true
In every beat of my heart
There's a beat for you

Hi Fran,
Though it's definitely another classic song of the early sixties, I don't think "All Alone Am I" is the song Steve is refering to, because Brenda Lee's song lyric does not actually include the phrase "every beat of my heart" in it. She sings "just the beat of my heart" and "just the lonely beating of my heart".

"All Alone Am I" lyrics:

All alone am I ever since your goodbye
All alone with just the beat of my heart
People all around but I don't hear a sound
Just the lonely beating of my heart

No use in holding other hands
For I'd be holding only emptiness
No use in kissing other lips
For I'd be thinking just of your caress

All alone am I ever since your goodbye
All alone with just the beat of my heart
People all around but I don't hear a sound
Just the lonely beating of my heart

No other voice can say the words
My heart must hear to ever sing again
The words you used to whisper low
No other love can ever bring again.

All alone am I ever since your goodbye
All alone with just the beat of my heart
People all around but I don't hear a sound
Just the lonely beating of my heart

Scott

Better watch out! The Scott Yee Lyrics server might be next on the shut-down list for the Harry Fox Agency

Stevizard (Steve),
Awaiting to hear from you to find out if either of the two above songs ("Every Beat Of My Heart" performed by Pips, or "Alone Am I" performed by Brenda Lee is the song you were looking for the lyrics too.

Scottyee,

Your second suggestion nailed it -- its Brenda Lee's "All Alone Am I". Can't believe you even have the lyrics, thanks a million.

Now, if I can ask a special favor . . . would you mind performing (record) the song and email a copy to me? I can remember most of this song but not all of it. If you can, then email to stevizard@neo.rr.com

This is a great forum. No matter what question you have, someone knows the answer or can steer you in the right direction. Scotty, your aces my friend.

Regards,
Steve

Fran,

I got so excited that Scottyee had the lyrics that I forgot to thank you and give you credit for being the one who figured it out. You're 100% right about the song. Don't know how you did it though, I didn't give you much to go on, and most of what I did give you was wrong. You're a miracle-worker.

I hear you've got a voice as sweet as honey. Gee, Fran, if you'd record your version of it for me then I'd even hear it with a female vocal.

Thanks again,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I think there has been some misconception on this board that Fran is a woman. In fact Fran is a guy. I don't know where this rumor got started, but even I was told that Fran was a woman before I found out that he is actually a guy after he sent his pic (along with his two lovely female singers in his band).

Fran,
Congratulations on winning Steve's "Name That Tune" contest!

Fran,

Didn't mean to imply that you sing like a woman. It was just a gender mistake. I dated a girl whose name was "Fran" in high school - a real nice gal. Just assumed the wrong gender.

According to Benny Hill, "when you assume you make an ASS out of U and ME". I guess that's what I've done.

After checking out your picture, I see you're not only male but quite the Ladies' Man (two great looking gals -- lucky guy).

By the way, can't help wondering, just how do your legs look?
