Hey all. When moving to the US from Europe, I brought my dear beloved D10. I modified the power supply (that is - I moved a lead from the 240V pin on the transformer to the 120V pin). Everything worked great, until one day it wouldn't power on. Or rather - it powered on, and the top half of the display lit up, but I never get the 'ROLAND D10' message that normally shows up.

Anyone have any idea what might have happened? One thing I speculated in at first was the pre-transformer module, but it's designed for 220/240, so that should be fine.

Another possibility is that it just was its' time to go...

Any and all tips and hints are deeply appreciated!!

Hi,
trace through all the connections internal to the machine - the local man here spent hours doing just that to mine and has fixed it ($75 worth of time).
Shouldn't think it was your mod which killed it, just old joints.

Sponge,

That's exactly what I'd like to do, but w/o having a service manual, I can't tell what points should have what voltage. I also don't have a 'scope... But I might give it a shot. Thanks for the tip!!

My my! Sponge, I just sat down and played a little with (on) my D10

I ripped it apart (carefully) and poked around a little, and sure enough, after some poking, I found a connection that seemed suspicious. I push it in place a little better and voila. The thing works

I owe you one!
