Hi...,
I would like to know if the A-70 is a good controller...I heard a lot about it...also, I want to know if the SC-880 is a good sound module or I should rather buy the VS-GSPro Voice Expansion Board for the A-70. If The SC-880 is good, I want to know , if possible, how many sounds I'am able to use simultaneously with the A-70...I would really appreciate if one of you could take time to respond to one of these questions...
thanks in advance...
Dang

Dang,
A-70 is a good controller, but compare with A-90. It has 88 keys piano action, and better qualitty buttons switch.
On both of them you can play up to 8 different programs on 4 MIDI OUT ports.
So, if you accept to use the same program number on different modules, the maximum capacity, not considering MIDI THROUGH, is a 8 instrument layer on all 4 ports in a total of 32 timbres. The practical use is up to 8 instruments layered, used among the 4 MIDI OUT ports.
I have never heard the sounds of the module and the exp board, but as this is a matter of taste any comments will be no valuable. You need to hear the sounds by yourself.
In a general comment, sound modules are more flexible than Exp boards, may be used by any controller and have better midi implementation. In other way Exp boards are cheapper, so for the same price you can get better quality sounds comparing with the sound modules.
Regards,
Fernando

Hi guys,
I still don't have version 2.05 in my A70.

But, to answer the question. The A70 will play up to 4 voices on the internal card.
"Internal A,B,C,D"

It will play up to 8 on the external 880 or other modules.
"External A,B,C,D AND Internal A,B,C,D"

Internals can be assigned as externals, externals can not be assigned as internals.

Talked to a Roland tech today who says the VE-GSpro card will ONLY function as a VE-GS2 and can not be upgraded.

Therefore buy an SC-880 external.
