Hi
I can buy one or another, both at same price (550 euros, about 500 dollars).
Which would be a better buy?
Thanks a lot

One has speakers[E86] the other does not[G800]. The G has a newer sound set[G800 bank] and 76 keys.. the E86 has 61 keys..so if you need on board speakers..it is an easy pic...If you need a wider key range, the G will fill the bill..for me the 76 keys and newer sound set[other features the E does not have also]...I would choose the G800 over the E86..

E 86(1 st gen sound canvas SC 3/5x series) is around 5-6 yr older than G800.one of the 1st arranger KBs with direct disk SMF play and style load(where 1 year younger Korg I3 struggle to load songs before it can play)
but it's OS and ease of use(even key feel) is better.
G on the other hand is SC88 pro board(more sounds, more simu efx like dly,EQ and larger display).

another point E86 was a major hit( i also prefer the layout -it's a revamped E 70 with a disk drive) in arranger world(G800 is less popular)just to mention.

Hi,
personally if I was going to replace either of them again, it would be the g800. As Fran said, depends whether you need the speakers of the e86, or whether you require 76 notes g800 .

best wishes
Rikki

So, you said E86 keys and key feel is better? And E86 OS is easier?

yes.I prefer e70,86 feel than G s(except for g1000).IMHO.yes most Es like 86 are velo sensitive only but it's predictable and respond very well.

Os wise though it's 2 line display, lay out and individual buttons makes it easier.

do not forget that G800 is a newer KB with more sounds, larger display .more simu efx etc like I said before.

G-800 an G-1000 have the same keyboard and is the same (very appreciated) keyboard of VA-76, A-70 and G-70, apart from some minor adjustments.
If speakers on board aren't a 'must', there is no comparison between E-86 and G-800.

I own the G800 ' and it is much better then E 86 .

the one that is close to that is the E 96 that has almost the same sounds and styles as the G 800 but comes only with 5 octaves and the keys are not good as the G 800 ' but it comes with speakers like in E 86

Hi Jamman,

How's the key feel between E-86 and G-600? Are they the same?

Thanks

The G-800 has an excellent aftertouch.
Whether you need it or not depends of your playing technique.

Personally I couldn't do without it.

550 euro's is pretty high, I see them going
for euro 400,-- / 450,--
For 550,-- you should at least a case or an FC 7 with it.

Fred

oeps, forgot to mention, G-800 or G-1000 over the E86, there's no comparison.
