Thanks Uncle Dave,
This is a great site for us old country boys from south of the Mason/Dixon Line.

Cheers Yall,

Gary

U.D.,

DonM can list the top 1000 from memory. He can even tell you which three chords they all use.

Shucks, I thought it was E, A, B. Don't knock Country till you try it though. It has some of the best beats and sounds around IMO. But those repetitious whiny crying in your beer love songs can become a little annoying after a while. There's a lot of good Country love songs that aren't necessarily whiny though; which is a good thing if you ask me.

Best regards,
Mike

I looked at the top 50 so far. Would you believe I do all of them but two!
That's scary. I'm going to sleep before I look at the rest.

I had to peak. Blues Man is number 472, but it's my current favorite.

YO UNCLE DAVE,
Thanks for this one. I posted it over in our Technics Forum also. I gave you credit for it.
I get a lot of emails from members wanting me to record some rockabilly music for them in my country jazz style so maybe I will use some of these to do that.
Thanks Dave
Best to all

I hardly deserve credit, but thanx for the kind gesture anyway. Sometimes I need a reminder of what I forgot that I know !

Hello

I'm not really a country music kind of guy, but I thought I'd give myself a little test with this list of tunes. Here are the results:

-Tunes I know of: 47
-Recognize the title: 25
-Not sure if mixing up title with another tune: 3
-Tunes I play off this list: 13
-Tunes I have played: 23

?What happened to Release Me?

Hmmmm... So I wonder what this would make my "Country Quotient"?

I'm thinking about learning some of these to see if I really can get to like them. I have tried it before but usually quit due to lack of interest.

I suppose if I sang these tunes would hold my interest a little more. I know they have there place, but when it comes to melody and harmonic content on most popular music written after about 1960 when played as an instrumental, ....well...

Each to his own.

Scott Langholff

Wow! I'm scared. I do two in the top ten and 12 of the top fifty and I'm supposed to be a jazz guy. I may need counseling. And I knew and played these before I played with DonM.

I can't believe Behind Closed Doors and Hey Good Looking isn't in the top 50.
