A manual, without playing the keyboard in person, only demonstrates how well the manual is written (mind you, that alone is something that just about ALL manufacturers could easily improve!).

Try not to be too impatient, and wait until you have tried both choices (and anything else you can lay your hands on!), and don't trust anything you read on a forum (except me!)

if you can not give a try to both, you can be brave and asimilate as much info as you can, listen to all demos available, ask questions, surf the internet, watch pictures...

eventualy, you'll know the keyboards good enought to have a general idea. after that, just go for it!
oh, should i say also that this worked for ME. for many others, it would be just crazy ordering without trying.

the manuals are improuvable, but at least roland's and korg's are a little bit more professionaly put in the page. psr3000's manual i really did not find it reliable.
i think korg pa's manual was the best written, explaining what is in every page from menu and how to get some things done...

Hi Andre,
try and play both before you decide. Roland & Yamaha styles sound different.
Try & pick the one with the type of styles that suit you best.

I have a psr1500 & a Ketron SD1+. Even though the Ketron is superior soundwise, I personally find yamaha styles are more suitable for the type of music I like to play..

Roland may suit you better.

Yamaha is due for new lower end models.

best wishes
Rikki

Diki is correct:

Don't trust anyone's opinion on the forum. They may be high as a kite on a product one week and sell it the next That I can say from experience.

Go with your own personal tastes and good luck.

Hi Andre,
maybe another thing to consider is being able to get a keyboard serviced ( if heaven forbid something should go wrong), not an issue if either of the brands are not available in your country.

Another question, you mentioned in your original post something about going outside to play?? did you mean via Battery Power ( like the DGX has??) The more expensive keyboards don't run on batteries, you may need to check this option if it's important to you. Imay have misunderstood what you meant.

best wishes
