Since nobody answered this thread for several days, I will real well, along with the down and dirty of it all.
The ceiling retail on the XV-5080 is incredibly high at 5 bucks short of 2½ grand (for the lobotomies out there, that's $2495.00). That's pretty tough to reach if you don't shit 100 dollar bills, and as usuall, when it comes to retail pricing, Roland Corp. is stuck on stupid.
GC (Guitar Center, leader in sales of DOD & BOSS fuzz boxes to pre-puberty punks with mommy's card), as much as they do suck is the only place left I know of that will deal (very very little) on one since they whined and cried to Roland, and snitched off our heroes at Gigmode in Salem for rolling the units big time on-line. End result there is Gigmode can no longer sell pro Roland gear. GC whines and snitches off whoever they can in order to maintain their olligopoly. GC "ad-paks" every single stinking item they sell too, by 10%! If you can get a GC manager to approve a sale at less than $1800.00 before tax, consider yourself a luckdawg. In Orange County, CA. you're looking at roughly 2 grand out the door, which includes the price of a couple of drinks at the nearby pub, which is required before going into GC to haggle with them. Sorry to say, but the best I know of is with an industry snitch brown noser generally run by clueless that are only out for maximum "GP" (at CG this means Gross Profit and in GC slang is referred to as: pron=
) at about $2000.00 out the door.
BTW, Sorry former co-workers at CG. I let the cat out of the bag. Get a real job. Unemployment is low, enjoy your weekends again like I do. Life is short.
PS: GC Rod & Ray, I am not impressed by your Jaguars at the expense of hard working musicians. What are you going to do now, take me off your mailing list? You suck.Blow me.
