Yeah I admit that an arranger keyboard is probably not gonna cut it to cover their stuff but I that is probably true of most hard rock songs. But I think it is awesome that there are rock artists that continue to perform well now they are in their 60s. I am getting close to that age myself and I am certainly not about to stop playing hard rock music .... in fact the more it offends people the more fun it is to play ( hmmmm maybe I need to turn it up a couple more notches ).
Nigel, I couldn't have said it better myself if I tried. I don't believe age has to have anything to do with it btw. I still like making as gritty and loud an organ sound as I can and playing it.
My grandmother bought me my first Led Zeppelin album back around the time Zep II came out. As time went by, she became quite the fan herself, and at the time she was already in her mid 50's. The remaining members have clearly evolved over time, so there is plenty of fare for those who didn't necessarily favor the hard rocking Zeppelin, but based on the reviews of the the other night, they surely remember how and can still easily pull off that old Zeppelin hard rock as well.
The Floyd has always been an interesting study to me. I guess had Syd been able to hold it together a bit more, we might have seen a very different Floyd. Meddle is one of my favorites as well. I like listening to all of the early PF albums, as each shows some previews of what the band would later become musically, and often without the somewhat more depressing ( albeit sometimes great ) Waters lyrics that would dominate the latter albums. I've seen the Pulse video too btw. Great stuff.
I'm definitely still a fan. I have every standard release PF album ( not all of the compilations though ) and practically all of the solo stuff as well, including just about everything Barrett that is out there.
Cheers
