Ouch! Typical Korg piano sound and I'm not overly impressed by it. Maybe it will sound better in person but I won't hold my breath. That's where Yamaha shines is in their acoustic piano sounds. You would think a $4,000 flagship arranger could muster a better ac piano sound than that and since being the most important sound on any keyboard in my opinion, and probably the single most important deciding factor when considering any keyboard purchase, you need to give it the best possible ac piano you can. I dunno.. maybe that is as good as Korg can do. In other words, they possibly don't have the technology to do any better. Even the $8,500 OASYS's ac pianos aren't what I would expect for the price. Oh well... their loss and Yammie and Roland's gain. Once again, maybe it will sound better in person but again.. I won't hold my breath. Best, Mike

Mike, You hit the nail right smack on the head. Korg pianos just plain suck. I just purchased their new Workstation, the M373. This keyboard uses the same Extended Definition chip as the flagship Oasys keyboard. I was appalled at the quality of the pianos!! They were shallow, cold, thin, tinny, and lacked expression. I returned the board for a refund, Yuk!!! I now have my sights set on a Roland Fantom-x which supposedly has the best Piano sound on a workstation in the industry. ------------------ Al Giordano http://www.arrangerworld.comTyros 2, Yamaha P-250, Korg Triton Extreme 76, Roland VK8-M, DW Collectors Series Drums, Roland SPD-S.

The quality of a particular sound is down to personal choice, which is why if you go to various forums you will find Piano sounds from all manufactures will be called poor by someone. (EG, I wouldn’t touch a Yamaha Piano sound as they sound awful, my Roland is much better, and then someone else would say, compared to my Ketron, both are rubbish, etc etc) In truth (These days) there is no such thing as a bad Piano sound, but just different types. (My current favourite is True Pianos http://www.truepianos.com/ (Video demo http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zsd2SJThgjU ) which I find outstanding when loaded into the Abacus) Enjoy whatever you decide to play. Bill
