Mo, you have to upload the songs to a website. There are many free places to do that. Then you just post the link here and we can all click on it and proceed to fire at Will, or at Mo!
Same thing with the photo.
I don't use the public upload places because I can post them on my own website, so someone else will have to point to the better ones.

i appreciate the advice guys but u r leaving out steps because u know how and its always hard to imagine how someone else who is totally inexperienced at something needs to be told EVERY LITTLE TEENSY STEP in the process. it's like..telling time--the big hand is on the 3 the little hand..etc. So when u say download then use sendit.com, i'm like whaaaa??????but how???

so let's assume i take Fran's advice and use sendit.com ok? for jpg's too on my desktop.
So I put the CD in the computer, it comes up on my screen as an icon--now please tell me every teensy little step along the way like
the moron i am..assume NOTHING..and same for jpgs....thanks

www.yousendit.com

Now click on browse to upload...select your location on your computer and select the file..you can select from the CD too...wait while it is uploaded...when finished a link will be show, and you can copy the link...In the very beginning it will ask where you want to send the file link...Use your email address..it will send the link to you..

If you have Windows XP, just select the recording file name, right click with the mouse, and you will see an option to "convert audio format". Click on that and select an MP3 format and size, like 320. Then follow the directions, and it will convert automatically to MP3.

I am hoping you can figure out how to post your songs or email them to someone to post.
I for one would love to listen to them for sure.....good luck.

The problem, Donny, is that to someone with NO computer savvy, it IS rocket science until you learn what to do .... I remember the struggles I had early on trying to learn the same stuff ...
Mo's situation is made a little more difficult in that he has a mac, which not many of us are familiar with ...
Any mac geeks out there to lend a hand?

it's also not rocket science for someone with a bit of patience and a teaching background (as many here have) to chop it into a step-by-step for a neophyte.
I never want to hear complaints from u guys about how bad the manuals are from the manufacturers again. it's exactly the same, you object that they assume too much knowledge and don't understand that u need simple incremental steps to understanding.

What if i was trying to tell someone who just got fist computer to "download". think they would know what that was? if i had to teach what i know here so far, i would say, "open the Cd case, take out the CD, hit the eject button, place cd facedown on tray, hit button again to close tray, computer will bring up CD icon in a little bit." now assume he knows NOTHING after that..how would lead him thru it? would you say "convert to mp3" and expect him to do anything but HUH?.

Being this is a Mac....which I am not familiar with, using a PC I guess Diki would be the one to talk to or get in touch with since I recall him saying he always uses one .....correct? Should be a cinch for him to show you what to do to post your tunes.

Mo ... you are absolutely right ... Perhaps the problem is that no one read that you were using a mac, which you specified ... otherwise I think the comments might have been helpful ...
Even though I had a fair amount of 'business computer' experience, I remember going through the same growing pains when I started using the PC for music ...
Hopefully a mac user will come to your aid...
t.

PS: I look forward to hearing your music.

as far as the cover jpg....you might have to scan the picture>save it to a jpg file> then added it to your post on the SZ using the image HTMl code.

Donny,
wasn't intending a reprimand re rocket science remark, was not offended just was making a point about difficulty learning a new thing without patient incremental instruction.

not sure mac is all that different from pc..
lets assume i can get my cuts into a file for export (whatever that means lol)on my mac,
parameters should be same after that no? so anyone want to have a go from that point to
a public website to SZ post?

I don't need to scan cd covers, I have them
as jpgs on my desktop.

Mo....if you can get you song files off the CD to a file on your mac>

then just go to YOU SEND IT & send the songs to yourself......USING YOUR EMAIL....
click broswe>find the song files>click each song you want to upload you might have to do this seperatly for each song>
when the email arrives to you copy the link to the songs they give you and post it on the SZ for all to access.

MO,
Since I am a PC guy, I will try to step you thru this procedure as best I can.

First, SAVE your CD (individual songs) to a location on your Mac. Do that with your jpg files too.

Now go to a site that permits you to upload and save your files. Follow their instructions closely. They will ultimately ask you to UPLOAD the desired files. They will provide a dialog box for you to insert your computer location - example, C:\mytunes\cd1\song1. They usually provide a BROWSE button for you to explore your computer. In that case you can locate the file, highlight it and press LOAD or whatever term they use. Follow this procedure for each the songs and pictures or whatever you wish to load.

Once you have finished this task - which will take a good number of minutes - save the address of the location where all of these files are being held. As Fran said, you can probably email it to yourself for quick reference. Otherwise we PC people can press Ctrl+C (probably Apple+C) to save it to a clipboard on your Mac.

Now come back to the SZ and post a message as usual. Include that saved address (Apple+V)??? in the message. Then we can click on that site and listen to your music and see your pictures.

I hope I haven't forgotten too much. You're a smart guy; you should be able to fill in the blanks. If you need more help, email me. In fact, if you want to email the individual files to me I will post them on a separate webpage on my site.

As far as saving your CD as an mp3, I think iTunes may already do that. If it doesn't, you should be able to go to your menu and find some way to switch to saving music as an mp3 - this is will save lots of space, so I'm sure Mac does it already.

If you can't save the music as an mp3, send them to me and I'll convert them and send them back to you. You may have to send only two or three per email because of the size.

And if all else fails, email me the content and I'll throw it up on a test server in my office (I can leave it there for a week or two).

Send me the cover art too or I might have to go with a default image like this:

You're still missing the point I think. The files won't be on SZ, just a link to where they are stored. There may be a size limit on the site you're using, but in shouldn't be a factor with Mp3s. I would not upload songs without compressing them to MP3 format. They would be too large and take too much time for many people to download.

Donny my concert is one of a 4th Friday jazz series at Museum of Contemporary Art in N.Miami. The fact they booked me last May inspired me to get the cd's done, also the fact i got unlimited studio time in exchange for a Neumann u67 tube mic i had in my closet since 1989. So I'll recoup all my costs for 2 with the first 200 sold, and I'm shooting for 50-100 sales at the concert at special $20 the pair.

One is serious endeavor: ME and my 'NINO. will be the first ever CD to feature the Eb
Sopranino sax(and my vocals) and i reused rhythm sec trax I had from my y2k Cd, with a great local band i used to play with before
i joined the ranks of you arranger-niks.I'll
post one 2:40 Body & Soul forya with a gorgeous B3 bridge from Brian Murphy.

The other is more of a demo for my duo,
MO & MADAFO. He's on bongos and hand percussion, I'm on E60 all, with bass/drum
styles, these sounds: piano/organ/rhodes/
scat vocals/spanish gtr/harmonica. i have 2
vocals on it and 1 sopranino cut. I'll post
2-3 from that one: a boogie blues, a std vocal mambo, and a Siboney w/gtr.

btw the guy who mastered volunteered to help me free..is a mac-man and he
recommends i put my Cd into itunes, then convert to mp3,then sign up at myspace, then post to SZ. he's going to give me a step-by
step. I like that i'll finally have a website, and will post this weekend for ya.

I'm gratified that there is such interest, thank you so much, and i only hope nobody treats me as someone who needs a pat on the back when u hear the samples. keep it real.
