I'm using an FC-7 with my XK-1; works great.

Thanks, Cassp...maybe Chas can look it up in the manual...there may be a list of compatible pedals.

Ian, most of the C1 guys use the Behringer FVC100 dual-mode expression pedal. I got one before my PK7a arrived and I prefer it to the one mounted on the PK7a. Built like a tank and only about $25.00. Best buy in the industry.

Cool...I think they may have one in the store...I'll bring along my FC-7 as well.

The sales guy just told me they are bringing the C1 in for rental...I can order one straight away if I like it...they have been renting them out in Toronto...very successfully apparently, and the instrument is standing up admirably, so that says a lot about the build quality.

I'm excited.

Tony, hate to disagree with you but this guy Bruce Katz is the greatest example of how NOT to play jazz organ I've ever seen. His timing is absolutely horrible and he sounds like some high school kid that's learned a few licks but doesn't have the talent to execute them well. Every organ player I know would laugh him off the stage. Wish he'd picked some other clonewheel to demo. JMO.

Wrong.. XK-3c is over $600.00 "less" expensive than the Nord C1. See for yourself Diki:

Nord C1 $2,899.97

Hammond XK-3c $2,295.97

BTW, physical Drawbars are synonymous with what makes a Drawbar Organ a real Drawbar Organ. Most Organists, I would think, would much prefer physical Drawbars since that is what they have been accustomed to in the real Drawbar Organs they've played down through the years. Maybe it is super simple to use the C1's digital drawbars I dunno, but having real drawbars is something every Organist is already well aquainted with and something he or she would not have to re-learn and re-adjust to if that person were to buy the C1. Plus, like I said, they will save a bundle in the process with the XK-3c. Yes it is heavier and yes it is a single manual but it has more features, more keys, and it has a much better sound and leslie sim than the Nord C1 does too in my opinion.

Best,
Mike

What you really need a C1 midi controller. Then you could midi up your g70 and e60 and just go ape sh$% on stage. I think it would be great for you to have all three keyboards on stage.

Actually, a C1 is a one serious drawbar clone. For me, its biggest drawback is the lack of physical drawbars. Otherwise, I hear it's one helluva board. But then, what do I know?

gotta clean this keyboard - letters are stickkkking.

Chas, here is the quote referring the C1 as a draw bar clone..even though it was Cass's quote..

I don't know, Mike...I kinda thought the C1 had more keys...since it does have two manuals as opposed to the XK-3c's one.

The XK-3c "extra" reversed color keys are for drawbar presets.

And there's the rub...the XK-3c system (the extra manual and the stand) is much more expensive than the C1.

I'll let you know on the sound and the Leslie sim...I'm trying a C1 out this week...but I think it will be awful close.

Mike, I'm glad you qualified it with "in my opinion". I'm guessing that if you put it to a panel of ten organist, you'd get at least 11 opinions. Subjective, to say the least.

Features. What "more features" are you referring to that would be of interest to an organ player?

More keys. Well yeah....if you only count one manual of the C1 (which happens to be set up exactly like the B3).

Here's the thing. Ask any organist which he'd rather give up; drawbars (but with a perfectly usable and possibly better alternative) OR a second manual for which there is no (physical) alternative. Granted, these answers might be different if you aren't an organist.
