Donny,
I've seen several variations of the cases shown - gun cases and keyboard cases that were fitted with linings to protect the speakers. I don't think I would consider such a case because of the weight issue – the 2 speaker towers and the added weight of the hard case. To me, the fact the tower is in 2 pieces makes it easier for me to handle.
Ciao,
Jerry

besides having to carry 4 separate pieces and then trying to put the super tight covers on & off.....on & off every day really turned me off & in return had to get rid of my pose out of aggravation regarding portability....too much hassle on an everyday basis. No flexibility versus separate amps...you have to always use the whole setup Argggg!

Hey Donny - so what are you using now? I think I saw that you sold your Mackies. Just curious what sound system you are using on your gigs.

Donny, I have system 1, but I bought a stand bag which both halves of the pole fit into nicely. It has an internal seperator. I am out of town and don't remember the model, but it was about $30.
I never take the base unit out of the case, just unzip and roll it back.
Model 2 has a much small base unit, and the poles don't require a button to lock into place. It also spreads the sound even better.

I don't know ..... Let's see ......
unzip, place
unzip, place
unzip, stack
unzip, stack again.......maybe 90 seconds in all. I'll spare the extra time folding those sturdy cases for that sweet sound , but I'll never carry a 50lb box around and sit it on the floor again. Not after I've been spoiled by the fullness of what I have ! God bless ya, Donny ..... You sound great on everything you buy.

Gotta' agree with Uncle Dave. My total setup time is 10 minutes or less using the Bose L1--piece of cake. And, when you consider that performers using a pair or powered speaker, a pair of speaker poles, plus a mixer, and all the other stuff they haul, their setup time has to be more than 10 minutes. The total time to set up the Bose L1 itself is, as Dave says, about 90 seconds. Ok, some days when my butt is draggin' it might take 2 minutes. And, each piece of the L1 is relatively light, especially when compared to powered speakers.

Cheers,

Gary

Honestly the Bose is not worth close to $3000.00

for just an average sound in a MONO system nothing earth shattering though dont kid yourself if you never heard one......that any top brand PA system could accommodate easily.....I truthfully found in many time very thin when I went out in the audience back in the room.. I know many people that had to but Bigger Power subs to make em dance. It is what it is. I sold mine and never regretted it.

Gary the K4 is not 300 watts peak,,it is true 300 watts..and anyone that has used one in a room that demanded volume will tell you it kicks butt...and the 12" woofer is very capable of a deep bass.[not sub woofer bass]..but maybe as good as that Bose so called sub ..

You should give it a real try...maybe blow some windows out..
BTW" Gary you know as well as anyone the number games when rating power amps ..we know the difference is the SPL..

Donny, just curious - if you dislike the Bose so much and don't plan to get one, why would care about the cases for it?

Don.....

Its the design I dont like.......not the sounds for the most part...

when you have to set up & break down 2x & 4x a day it gets a bit annoying to unpack, unzipper, and try to stick them into the tight supplied covers....especially when your in a big rush... the whole design wasn't my cup of tea.....more then the sound which wasn't the problem vs my personal comfort level which comes first....of which I would say needed a bigger sub for more bottom end to my ears.. ...I certainly wasn't gonna carry 2 subs to add to all the pieces as it was...but if people love em ....
ENJOY baby enjoy!!

Fran,

I'll check it out the next time I can find a place that sells them close to my area. I'm always interested in a significant improvement, but the weight, which is listed at 50 pounds, is not my cup of tea. However, if you are going to supply the fork lift, I might take this into consideration.

As for the Bose wattage, it has more power than I'll ever need. When I performed a Concert In The Park at Aberdeen, Maryland's Municipal Park last summer I was able to easily reach folks that were sitting nearly 600 feet from the L1's tower. And, I never turned the master volume above 50 percent. I seriously doubt that the K4 could reach someone that far away, especially outdoors. Additionally, when I see a wattage specification on the spec sheet that does not say peak or RMS, I can guarantee you that it is is peak wattage--not RMS. Bose provides both peak and RMS ratings, which is the same thing that Barbetta, York, Peavey and a host of other manufacturers provide. If you have some information that shows this is not peak watts, I would sure like to see it.

Cheers,

Gary

Nigel.....

I was wondering why your band needs different Subs with your Bose PAs system? Not enough bass or? could you have used a few more on each pole?

I guess everyone hears with a different set of ears(hey, that rhymes) but when I heard an arranger put through the K4, I was not impressed.

Loud? Yes the amp speaks volumes...it's a loud rig...but I thought it made the arranger sound flat and hard.

Tried the tube section...nope...no better.

I'm not saying its a bad keyboard amp...it's actually pretty decent when you run an electric piano through it, or an organ like an Xk-1...it would make a great stage monitor amp for these instruments.

But, in my opinion, it is not, nor was it ever, designed for the full range capabilities of an arranger that's pumping drums, bass, keyboard, guitar, and other sounds through it all at once.

The stereo imaging was also disappointing...I found it virtually non-existent at about 20 ft or a bit more.

There will be people who are made very happy by a Traynor K4, and I wouldn't laugh at them even though it is resoundingly not my sort of amplifier.

Two powered speakers would serve you better.

Plus...it's HEAVY.

Nope, I'll pass on the roadies, and the way the spec sheet reads, the K4 as well. But, I will check it out the next time I'm near a GC, or someplace else that handles them.

Cheers,

Those two are pretty effeminate looking guys, Fran...I have enough issues with your recommendations on gear...I'm certainly not going with your choice of roadies.

I bet they're strong enough, but the cigar smoke must be a hassle.

Oh well, at least you have help getting your big old G70 in your Yugo.
