Gotta' agree with Uncle Dave. My total setup time is 10 minutes or less using the Bose L1--piece of cake. And, when you consider that performers using a pair or powered speaker, a pair of speaker poles, plus a mixer, and all the other stuff they haul, their setup time has to be more than 10 minutes. The total time to set up the Bose L1 itself is, as Dave says, about 90 seconds. Ok, some days when my butt is draggin' it might take 2 minutes. And, each piece of the L1 is relatively light, especially when compared to powered speakers.

It's not nice to fib to the good folks on the zone. The K4 is only 300-watts peak-power, no subwoofer and does not come with the forklift needed to get it out of the car. The L1 is 1,400-watts peak, 750-watts RMS--no forklift required.

Honestly the Bose is not worth close to $3000.00

for just an average sound in a MONO system nothing earth shattering though dont kid yourself if you never heard one......that any top brand PA system could accommodate easily.....I truthfully found in many time very thin when I went out in the audience back in the room.. I know many people that had to but Bigger Power subs to make em dance. It is what it is. I sold mine and never regretted it.

Gary the K4 is not 300 watts peak,,it is true 300 watts..and anyone that has used one in a room that demanded volume will tell you it kicks butt...and the 12" woofer is very capable of a deep bass.[not sub woofer bass]..but maybe as good as that Bose so called sub ..

You should give it a real try...maybe blow some windows out..
BTW" Gary you know as well as anyone the number games when rating power amps ..we know the difference is the SPL..

Donny, just curious - if you dislike the Bose so much and don't plan to get one, why would care about the cases for it?

Its the design I dont like.......not the sounds for the most part...

when you have to set up & break down 2x & 4x a day it gets a bit annoying to unpack, unzipper, and try to stick them into the tight supplied covers....especially when your in a big rush... the whole design wasn't my cup of tea.....more then the sound which wasn't the problem vs my personal comfort level which comes first....of which I would say needed a bigger sub for more bottom end to my ears.. ...I certainly wasn't gonna carry 2 subs to add to all the pieces as it was...but if people love em ....

I'll check it out the next time I can find a place that sells them close to my area. I'm always interested in a significant improvement, but the weight, which is listed at 50 pounds, is not my cup of tea. However, if you are going to supply the fork lift, I might take this into consideration.

As for the Bose wattage, it has more power than I'll ever need. When I performed a Concert In The Park at Aberdeen, Maryland's Municipal Park last summer I was able to easily reach folks that were sitting nearly 600 feet from the L1's tower. And, I never turned the master volume above 50 percent. I seriously doubt that the K4 could reach someone that far away, especially outdoors. Additionally, when I see a wattage specification on the spec sheet that does not say peak or RMS, I can guarantee you that it is is peak wattage--not RMS. Bose provides both peak and RMS ratings, which is the same thing that Barbetta, York, Peavey and a host of other manufacturers provide. If you have some information that shows this is not peak watts, I would sure like to see it.
