hi
i keep hearing stuff about the technics kn7000 being the best keyboard ever built.now i could agree with this back in the days it came out, but even now some people say that even when its compared to tyros, the sounds and overall playing seems much better,i never played the kn7000 but im becoming really fascinated about all the hype, I would really like too own one. has anyone played the kn7000 and if they have is it really so good, or better than korg and yamahas that are out currently,

I bought one ...played it 2 days and dumped it FAST!

I hated the sunken key bed......try to do a run and then you hit the edges.....bad design coupled with that flip up hard to navigate display IMO.....best Keyboard ever made?...I will say it had a great speaker system.
I think Not.....after the Kn 5000 Technics which I loved...took a nose dive IMO.

There are still a lot of things good about the Technics, It still has the easiest OS on the market, and quite a few of the sounds are still up there with the best, however it is getting on a bit, and in a head to head with modern instruments it would loose a few points.
BTW in the markets where the KN7000 and Tyros (Original) were on sale, the KN7000 outsold the Tyros by 2 -1.
Another point to remember is that the Hammond Organ came out in 1934, and is still the organ that manufactures try to emulate in their instruments,(Arrangers and Workstations) so age does not make an instrument bad.

on the other hand many of us dumped the KN7000 and bought the tyros 2 and still have it.
In fact I sold all 5 of my Technics keyboards including the KN7 that was good but not near as good as the Tyros 2 and the Roland E 80 and I am playing them both today.
Yes it was an easier keyboard to learn and play because it was designed and marketed to the baby boomers that always bought organs they neither needed or could afford.

The KN7000 was and still is a fantastic keyboard. It was far ahead of it’s time. The on board sequencer is excellent – The sound editor was also a winner. I have not heard a trumpet that can come pare to it. The instrument harmony for the right hand was better than most. The SD card came out when others were still thinking.

And---- it still has the best big band sound around. I am talking about the big bands like Benny Goodman and harry James. The Tyros 2 or Tyros 1did not come close and neither does the P 800. No comments on Roland.

But ---- sad to say technology moves on and the KN7 is now losing ground. I do not understand how the KN5000 was better than the KN7000. I have them all since the KN1000, the KN7000 was the best.

Hi,

I had read all of these review. Most of them dated back in 2002-2003. I would like to know how does it compare to today keyboard such as Korg PA-800, Yamaha Tyros 2 or even Roland G70/E80. Thanks.
