Great day today, I was able to sell my PA800 to a local buyer. This is the 3rd board I've sold thru Craig's list. Nice clean sales, cash transactions and no shipping charges.

After selling the Pa800 headed 2 hours south and picked up my PA2xPro today from Frankieve. While there got to compare the PA500, PA800 and a PA50. And of course the usual good service and support from Frank.

Got home with it at 3 PM and I have been playing it since then. It's about 10 PM it's time to call it a day Well maybe in an hour or so.

The PA2Xpro is the closest thing to the ideal board for me. I'll be holding onto this one for a while 76, keys and an action that's in the class of the G70. It's a well built great looking board with nice solid keys, not synth keys. 39 pounds isn't bad either very managable.

The photos of this board on the Korgpa.com site do not do it justice, it's much better looking that what you view on the Korg site.

Great news on the new and old Enjoy yourself these days. My brother helped me a lot with the 800 tonight and I want to thank all of you who help (and continue to do so - so much to learn).

Rikki - yep, must have been some of Donny's I erased. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

I am enjoying the board and will eventually replace the 900.

The harmonizer is FABULOUS - we had a blast with it tonight and it works like a charm...

Steve,
congratulations! You will love your PA2X Pro, no doubt about it. I love the action as well: for sheer piano playing it's even better than the G-70

Hi Stephen
I am happy for you. That is the board I really wanted, but in August I had a long wait ahead of me. I love my PA800 anyway.

Congratulations Steve.

I know you did the right thing. The Pa2X is a wonderful keyboard. The key feel alone makes it worth the money, and a bonus of some very helpful keys!

Best wishes

Graham

Gary the HD is 40 gigs, not sure whether it can be upgraded by the user. 40 gigs should be plenty of space for most users?

Rikki and Zuki thanks. Zuki glad you're enjoying the PA800.

Dreamer, the action is just fantastic. I think you have a good point for sheer piano playing. I thought it was a bit better than the G70 myself. I just didn't want to provoke a mine is better than your's thread

Bernie, my thought was to get the PA2xPro originally but got anxious and went with the PA800. After reading and talking to Frank about the action of the 2xPro I decided to it was worth the upgrade.

Graham you hit the nail on the head with the feel and extra keys. Good luck with yours I know this morning you're using it at church. I'll be anxious to hear your report.

Steve,

Congratulations on the new board. Let's hope your search has ended! We fully expect a thorough review, especially compared to the Tyros 2 as I'm considering the Pa2x as well and I'm moving from the T2; mostly for the 76 keys.

Best of luck and make some great music!!!

Regards,
Al

Steve, I am most happy for you. many people don't realize that your and my searches for keyboards over the past year have not been will nilly. They have been an honest search for a "keeper" keyboard. i know you've finally found what you want in tha PA2x. Enjoy, enjoy enjoy.

BTW, don't be writin' no glorious reviews of the thing telling how great it is and how nice the keyboard feels. I ain't buyin' nuttin' new; even on your recommendation.

Good luck, good SZ friend.
Cass

rb293, I spent sometime this afternoon A/b/ing the piano on the Korg and on my Yamaha Clav CVP 307. I did the A/B thru a set of Bose model TP1a head phones. The CVP Grand Piano 1 and Grand Piano2 ( #2 could be a Steinway sample). Have the edge on the PA2xPro, but not by much! If anything the Korg was a brighter sound, but excellent.

There was some comment in the recent review Keyboard player review about the keys being noisy. I turned volumes down on both the Korg and the Clavinova so that no sound came out of either instrument. Both instrument keys made about the same amount of noise. But what else could you expect?

A neat feature on the Korg is when you use the damper pedal you can actually hear as you do in an acoustic piano the dampers being lifted off the strings. Maybe that's a little bit of a gimmick, but nevertheless kind of a cool effect.

Tony, I wasn't trying to beat Donny!! Honest I can live with 61 keys, but it's so much nicer to have the 76 keys. It just feels good to sit at a board with those extra keys and with the action. Donny thanks for passing the torch.

Al I think you're gonna love the PA2xPro. I don't remember how much you depend on using styles. One thing as we all know is that the variety of Yamaha styles along with 3rd party styles have the edge.............but when you take the more live sound terrific pianos, physical sliders and Songbook feature. I'm sure you're bound to miss a couple of Tyros2 features, but not enough to regret selling it. I like the form factor of the Korg as well, much smaller than the G70 and not as deep as the Tyros 2.

Cass you're gonna love the feel of the keys!!! You're right we both searched for the right board, took a while but found it.

Adimatis at first look the PA500 and the PA800 have a real similar appearance, but once you start looking and playing you'll notice a difference. Key feel on the 500 is not as solid feeling as the 800. Buttons to change styles and voices are not the quality in the PA800. The printing near the buttons that describe what each button does is in larger print. My understanding is no USB for attaching a thumb drive. I believe it takes a flash card instead. Overall, my impression is you're getting a lot of bang for the buck.
