10" anything just dont cut it....
not enough bass....either use a Sub with them or bigger speakers w/woofers upwards of 15"+ where frequencies go down low you gotta push air

Just sold a customer a FBT Amico 500, which is a 300 watt 15" woofer, 2 5 1/4" with tweeters at 80 watts a piece, and multi channel mixer with fxs. All included.

It sounded incredible, but was not very loud, just very musical, i was very happy with the big sound from such a small compact package.

I'll have to use it on a couple of jobs before I can give you the complete thumbs up

I agree!! That is why I have the powered FBT 300 watt 15" sub. It is small and light. The inputs are balanced with High Pass filter outputs. The balanced outputs from the PA1XPRO, IMO, do make a difference!!

Nothing takes the place of a Powered Sub!!!!

DNJ,

I have not tried the bigger system, but if the smaller Amico 500 is just a smaller package, than wow.

It's hard to explain in words, but the nice big open sound coming from the combo of a 15" to5 1/4 is pretty smooth. the highs were very smooth and not bitey.

Of course sound is in the ear of the beholder so to each is own, I am more of a sound quality than sound quantity so this is just my opinion.

What organization or magazine provided this test. It looks very interesting thanks.

I am definitely interested in the FBT now. Because of space and weight considerations (because I do so many small scale gigs) I cannot consider a heavy loudspeaker. But the FBT speaker tested weighs just 5 lbs. more than my JBL Eon10 G2 and beat out Mackie's 10" loudspeaker too.

Note, of course, that the most expensive speaker won the test (or close to it) and that the Mackie came a very close second...

While FBT and Mackie may be a close price comparison in Europe, over here (US) the FBT is nearly $300 more (60% more) than the Mackie. A close second, with that kind of price advantage seems a no brainer, particularly as they are VERY easy to find and service, here.

How much do the Mackie's weigh. I got an email from a dealer offering the FBT's for $599 apiece including free shipping! If anyone wants, I can forward it.
