My advice would be look for a good used one, miden. Seems a whole bunch of buyers not prepared to do the work to customize it, and many let it go with very little playing miles on it... They are built like tanks, so you shouldn't have to worry about button wear or keyboard contacts, etc.. Just make sure there is no problem with the touch-screen (rough handling can cause some problems), and you should be fine.

Their loss could be your gain!

The all Mp3 demos are really amazing, they sounds really good.
But for me, all this demos have nothing to do with the arranger engine, they are all programmed under one SEQ.
You can just hear that the all parts are played in realtime, Brass, E.Piano...are not patterns, it mean a standard SEQ song.

After saw again the Video demos of NAMM: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xy92wEdaZSo
( sounds there are recorded with a Mic Camera) but still you can hear a totally different sounds sets and arranger switch patterns bugs ( it mean a real OS status) that totally dont match with one of this new Mp3 demos.
All the nice video demos are made with a Wav player and never with a true styles, this can make the MS too and much better, try there to transpose +5/-5 semitone or BPM timescratch...
Is not a ketron fault but is only the Dream chip limitation, for your know, we have the same chipset on MS and we have ignored this all features because are really poor.

Anyway, from today is open the Musikmesse and then for sure someone can compare and make some test if really the Audya arranger sounds same like this Mp3 and when really will be released.
For sure soon someone will posting here some true news.

Enjoy what you play
cheers

We've just put up a LIVE demo with 2 AUDYA's in use ... again through external camera mics so bear with us on sound quality.

This should give you a better idea of the ARRANGER (no sequences used here)....

Thanks,

AJ

PS: Again, based on these being prototypes, specifications (as listed on the brochure) can change (in this case WILL change) as development progresses prior to release of production modules...processors, memory ..etc. We want to make sure we give you the best with what we currently have.

AJ, the "jam session" sounds good. Why does Ketron continue to include a floppy drive? Do people in Europe still commonly use them?
I have four computers and none of them even has a floppy drive.
Since Audya is in prototype stage, perhaps it could be replaced with something more useful.
Can't wait to get my hands on an Audya!
Thanks,
DonM

DonM,

The AUDYA doesn't have a floppy drive - 2 USB ports on the bottom/front LEFT side and one on the back (to host). You CAN use a USB FD to connect, but we've pretty much abandoned the standard FD on our products.

The SD4 also comes with USB (like the SD2 but this time for live useage).

Thanks,

AJ

PS: We're also considering abandoning the Dream chip and using one of our own developments - just as we did with the vocalizer.

AJ,
so I guess it's correct to assume that -considering all the design issues you are still evaluating, like choice of the processor, vocalizer chip, etc- the Audya will not see the light before another six months, at least?

well, still in thi last video demo: http://www.ketron.it/musikmesse2008/Video/Sabato_02.wmv
at posistion 17:40 you can hear the test of the transpose and timestrech, typical sounds and features of the Dream chip. ( tested here too with my evabord PCI)
In the video have trasponed only +1 and -1, because if they transpone more, the Dream chip can not manage it right.
The timescrech seem working, but when in the video have reduced to much the BPM, you can hear yourself that the phase and the sounds start to be ugly totally, then Fontanella have stopped asap.

Fran have a MS with a old OS, but he can prove the transpose and timescrach quality of Elastique, Dream can never compete and still the P3 intel CPU too IF they will not buy the license like this all company: http://www.zplane.de/index.php?page=references

Here a old video demo recoded with the cam mic, but anyway you can heard the good quality of the +7/-5 transpose and the BPM timescretch reduced clode to the zero: http://www.lionstracs.com/demo/video/2007/tiptranspose.wmv

Anyway the Audya is one amazing keyboard, they make really a great work, but still remain in the closed and limited embedded system.
Recycle then over and over the same audio loops in ROM for create new variation styles is not the right way. Enduse must have the freedom to load the all audio loops that they want and make new generation of styles with a totally different audio loops too.

Sorry, but I have a totally different point of view...Open with Freedom...

enjoy what you play

Woops, maybe youre right Andrea, concidering that it's almost a
year since the Audya hype began.....
But at the other side, better keep it in factory 'till MOST of
the fail and bugs are gone, too often it's the consumers who
have to be the "testrabbits", and that without any kind of redused
price or goodies!
Well, time will tell they say, I'm too busy explore the G-70.

Happy Playing & Happy Easter

Thanks AJ, I had seen an earlier list of specs that said it still had a floppy. I fell into the same trap as many others, criticizing something BEFORE I saw it!
Like everybody else, I'm anxious to see the finished product. However, I'm glad Ketron seems to be taking time to get it right before release.

I'm totally blown away just by the quality of the sounds. The organs sound especially awesome as do the guitars. Very nice and inspiring!!

When do the pre-orders start! LOL
