I had a friend design me a logo and he came up with three drafts. I wanted to get some opinions from SZ members.

Its important that the logo has synergy - ie: that it flows, is effective, and easy to read.

Can you think of any changes that would make any of them better?

Thanks, Chony

Here are the three versions:

I lovee second one with the piano, My only concern is That people who don't know you already by name may not realize the piano image represents the letter "o"

As far as the look It Screams "I'm a Pro"
Very elegant anf Classy

Good Luck with it!

i also agree with mikey and john. make the "o" visible. it was only because i knew it was suppose to be "o" that i understood the name, otherwise seems like a C.H. guy from NY.

other than that, very nice!

I'm assuming you guys are talking about all three - not just the middle one. Is that right?

I agree with the others...put the "O" back in properly.

It looks like "CH & NY"(or CH and NY) in the first and third, and the second one isn't a whole lot better.

The font and the rest are very nice.

Perhaps make the bottom loop on the treble clef more like an O and overlay it with the same font as the rest of your name ...
In the second one you could just put the O in the piano, in the third one you could make the treble clef a different color - like the small blue clef imbedded in the larger one - and, again, have the lower loop the same color (in this case, black)as the rest of your name ...
I like the basic premise, though ...

Also I think the words Orchestras & Studios confuses people if they only see a OMB playing? Leaving them saying....

"Wheres the Orchestra"?

Here's my $.02

Try making the middle "O" into a whole note and incorporate a staff, kinf of like the first example.

Just thinkin' out loud,

Given the three choices, I like A and B, but not C. As for the "o", if you can add it without ruining the design, I agree you should add it. But the designs as they are are very good and atractive.

Personally, I don't think the "Orchestras and Studios" looks or sounds just right. IMHO, FWIW.

I agree. What does that mean? that you supply/provide orchestras or studios? You need to make it clear that you provide a 'service', not a 'thing'. Something that says you're a band for hire and/or can provide recording services. Looks - 10, Message - 3.

....another thing. If it's important to you, don't use a friend.

Whatever you do, make sure that the final can be effectively rendered in black and white using grey-screens, for the minimum-type application. And, if you are going to use versions in mags, signs, etc. make sure that the 2nd color is an "out of the can" color, instead of a custom PMS. That way, you'll be able to control the final product. Be careful not to render the final in a process-color format. Nice design concepts from someone who knows what he/she's doing.

To try to add a cent to what Russ said, if you are going to use the design you choose in say some form of stationery or receipts or even your email signature, make sure that it can be scaled down well without losing clarity.
I personally like the third one, very much, but i wouldn't choose it because i feel that if you scale it down the "clef made of clefs" will become a smudge.

I like A the best. Maybe take the flat out of the clef

None of them look like "Chony". Back to the drawing board.
