Must be....but, you have to realize that Tyros2, and especially G70, are really yesterday's news.

The new Tyros3 and Roland's new G-series are not far off...then the fit will hit the shan.

Hope you get your keyboard soon...waiting is so frustrating.

Congratulations once again, Kingfrog on your new Korg.

Kingfrog, congratulations on your new purchase. We are SO happy for you. Now maybe you'd like to add a little modesty, and not practice self-justification by slagging everyone else's choice, and we might avoid another round of bitterness...

Maybe you noticed the PA1X for sale at $1800 or so... That's what YOUR PA2XPro will be worth after four or more years of being out, and newer models have come along... Enjoy yourself while you can, I guess

The time to start crowing will be IF it compares favorably with the T3, and outsells it, not whether it's worth more than a three or four year old design...!

Sorry Diki I don't mean to come across thst way. BUt you must understand I am paying a lot more then I can get the Roland and (Especially Yamaha since I sell them). Even with that I am waiting 6 weeks for it.

Knowing Yamaha I have a good feeling it will be a glorified Yamaha S900. I really don't believe Yamaha will stray far from the Tyros 2. More sounds, styles but the same OS and features. They are geared for the Home user and mimic the Clavinova series to a T which IS a home sesigned and marketed keyboard.

Knowing Roland and their Fantom series they are geared to the modern sounds and I am guessing not much will change there. I wish I could have tried one in a store. I KNOW Roland is a class company with great product.

I meant no slight on the G70.I apologize if I came off that way. I am a tad over zealous and perhaps looking to justify the $3000 expense.

At this stage in the game...I personally would wait a few months and see what ACTUALLY is released from Yamaha & Roland instead of trying to guess what the future will bring before I spent $3000.00 on a KB. No one yet knows what is in the cards......but dont let your impatience leave you depressed when they release something your left saying to yourself...
"I Should Have Waited'

Good luck with you choice.

At this time of year, waiting to see or hear what Y&R plan to market a year or more from now is not worth it. Last year I bought and sold over a half-dozen keyboards looking for what I really wanted. What I found is exactly what you predict about the T3 - more repackaged great stuff and a few new things to entice. Sound wise, the audience's ear will pick up more on your talent, groove and style than the new articulated sound your keyboard has. Just my opinion.

I'd say get the Korg, learn it, grow with it and dump it in 4 years - so what? Pretty good use of time and money in my book.

I finally strayed from Yamaha and left the comfort zone for my PA800. It wasn't easy, as I gave up the 1st time and went back the 2nd time with determination. I won in the end and this board is simply incredible live.

It adds a whole new dimension to my act and is well received by my audience - trust me!

The best way I can describe it is - every song has a different element - they no longer sound the same.

If it's not your cup of tea in the end, I'll take it off your hands too!

Dnj, did you see the great number of styles dimitris from the Korg forum provided. They were all the styles that were on the Pa1X that were not replicated on the Pa2X, for some reason.
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=34151&sid=7ee850b0ea9a086f72cdb2baddf375ec

Dimitris is speculating that Korg plan to bring in some new styles, and that's why they left room. I hope so, but meanwhile they are a great addition.

YEah I could keep waiting on the corner for the next bus or I can get on one and actually go somewhere.

I believe Roland is behind the curve in this genre and way ahead of the curve in the Hip Hop dance stuff, That is their main focus in my opinion. Home keyboards are an afterthought,

Yamaha is all about home keyboards. That said I do not see the Tyros 3 being light years ahead of the Tyros 2. Why? Because their $7000 Clavinova which just came out is not that much different. The S900 is not a huge leap above the PSR3000. The Yamaha's best features is the worldwide support.

Korg has been at the leading edge in synths for awhile starting with the M1, then the Triton series......I think the Fantom will overtake the lead in the workstation area,

However on the arranger front I believe they are closest to a workstation with an arranger then Yamaha. The G70 would have to make a HUGE leap for me to want to go there. I don't see it happening with Rolands' foucus on the FAntom and their propensity for hip hop and that genre of music.

Donny,

No, haven't gone outside the 800 style library to date. Sometimes you just have to make things work and it's been a great ride. In addition, there are still many 3rd party that I'll draw from when needed. I cannot thank you enough for turning me on to this board a while back (based on your love for it then) I really love this board and the harmonizer is just a fantastic easy tool to incorporate in live play.

Zuki your very welcome glad to hear your doing good this "second time around" ....
I still really like the Pa800 & its very cool features....but I really wish there were many more styles to choose from....trying to convert Yammy/Rol/Ketron were difficult at best and not very good. I just needed much more to choose from & Yamaha provides that & more for me with Roland, & Ketron right behind. I also wish the file system OS was better too. Anyway I can wait a few months till the next wave of arrangers passes through & see what will be released next. Next month I will also try the TC Helicon Harmony M unit
http://www.tc-helicon.com/VoiceToneHarmonyM.asp

I hope its on par with the VH in the Korg as well we'll see.

stay well and good luck.

Yep Donny, will be interesting to see what comes next. There's that new arranger lull right now

With the 800, I really find it has enough styles for every single song I want. In fact, I'm using almost EVERY style in this board to work one way or another. That's what so interesting - more fun than I've ever had. Besides, the sounds are so terrific too. Throw in the pads, songbook and harmonizer....it is so very rich in live play. If no one else uses it, then I'm different too and that's not a bad thing.

But enough of my happiness - I wish that for everyone, really

zuki

Yes, I have 4 pages done so far. A simple site really, but easy enough to navigate. I need to complete it with demo songs, what else is new, huh and a good home page photo - maybe in a month or so - my schedule is really busy. I tried to do live recording on the spot one gig and goofed up the recording - soon I hope.
