Well I've never been to Philly,
But I kinda like the cheesesteaks.
They say the music is insane there,
and arrangers are the must haves...

Ooo, could we get 3 Dog Night to show up?

Cass lets keep our fingers crossed someone takes the Organizational reins and gets a North East Coast Jam put together anywhere so we can meet, jam & have a fun time if the dates are OK which is the big thing.

Great idea. I would be happy to set one up in Baltimore at my home or at a local club. Just give me some pointers on how you guys do it in Shreesport. I'm sure Gary Diamond,Dan O and Bob Lee would help. Lets do it!

Jim thats the spirit...Baltimore would be a great site only a few hours away & centrally located to many surrounding states....talk to Don Mason or BeBop maybe they can give you some tips on getting it started, I'm sure Gary Diamond knows the area very well also...& AJ & Dan O, Ray Bastianelli, are very close by too in MD! But its the dates that is imperative to work out so most can attend at least one if not both days or more.

Don't forget me, I live in the Baltimore area too and I'd be glad to help. I book up way ahead of time so it's important to set the dates out there a bit.

Not to diss' Fran, but.......there's got to be SOMEbody better than Fran for your pool-viewing pleasure.

PS: Sorry, but I love to (lovingly) pull Fran's chain once in awhile. He hasn't sent too many zingers my way lately; has he suddenly gotten religion or something. Let's hope not.

Regretably, Jimmy McKinny, also known as JIMSAX on the zone, passed away this evening while performing at a Baltimore area niteclub. Jimmy was playing his sax and suddenly collapsed and died in the middle of a song. He was 70 years old, a good friend, and I, along with many of his friends, will miss him dearly. Jim was inducted into the Musician's Hall Of Fame just two years ago and I had the privelage of attending his induction.

Wow, what a tragedy, Gary, very sorry to hear the news. That's the 2nd person this week I know who has died suddently. A 72 year old part time coworker and friend of mine was stricken outside my office door this past Monday afternoon although I called 911 then administered first aid he passed away the result of an anuerysm. Talk about having to deal with life on life's terms.

Jim may you RIP.

This is very sad. I didn't know Jim, but as with Tim Russert, the reality of sudden, unexpected death, is eerily uncomfortable for those in our age group. To paraphrase John Donne, 'each (musician's) death diminishes me, and I am the lesser for it'. To the extent that anything good can come out of such a tragedy, it does nudge us towards reviewing our priorities. RIP.

chas

PS: Perhaps this could be put on a separate post so that more people will be aware of it.

Steve ... So sorry to hear about the death of your coworker, and the situation you were put in ... I am certain you did everything that could have been done ...

Also sorry to hear about Jimmy - but I guess he went the way any musician would want to go ...
