Yep,

Russ tried the G70 and it made its trail - the buck stopped at Bernie

Hi Lucky,
Yep pretty sure.. all the G70's available now are existing inventory. The manufacturing stopped some time ago I was told.

Still a deal, if you ask me..!

Want just one keyboard, that can handle it all, from studio, to live band to duos and solos....? There are better specialists, I will admit... But if you want something that makes few apologies at ANY of those tasks, it's still hard to beat, IMO.

It also has the kind of giggable build quality no non-Roland 'board can match.

Since it has been a while now since the "deal made in heaven" has gone down, I can say that I decided to trade Zuki for two reasons. The first was because he wanted to trade for a PA-800, which I had. Secondly, I really never could warm up to the appearance of the blue Korg, eventhough I like the important features . The Roland always has denoted quality,OS snafues not withstanding. After admiring the looks, for a while, I decided to dig into the OS. This,I am still doing, and find new features every day. What a class act.

In retrospect, however, I can see how Russ didn't have time to devote to it, with his schedule and warehouse full of equipment. Zuki is a focused performer without the time(or maybe inclination) to doggedly explore the G70, much less carry it multiple times a day.

You see, we are all musicians plying our trade in different ways. Unlike most situations, we are all winners.

RE: Support Request #32511
Product: G-70
Subject: G70 production
Question: Can you please advise if the G70 is still being manufactured? I am aware it can still be bought, but I wanted to know if you are actually making it anymore?

Thanks
Dennis

Dennis,

The G-70 is a current product. It has not been discontinued.

I hope that this helps answer your request. If you need more assistance in this matter, please either re-submit your support request or contact our Product Support Department at the appropriate number:

So there you have it from Roland US.. Makes me doubt now all the other information given to me as well!!

But anyway Fran, just wanted to set the record straight.

Cheers,

Dennis

I would have been easy to say "yes it is still being manufactured"
But.....they didn't say that they said "The G-70 is a current product. It has not been discontinued." I read that to mean they still support it.

But they admitted there is not a big market so you can bet they aren't producing them to sit in a warehouse.

Whether they are still current or still being made is two different questions.
IMHO

There was an announcement on the Roland Germany forum reported at Roland-arranger.com -
http://www.roland-arranger.com/smf/index.php?topic=819.msg4844#msg4844

that seemed to officially announce the cessation of production of the G70. Roland Germany sure seem to be on the ball, being able to STILL manage to get OS updates out of Roland Arranger R&D to fix obscure bugs, and have generally been less opaque when it comes to communicating with the customers over there...

So, take it as you wish, but this SEEMS like the end... at least of production. That's not to say they can't restart it if demand suddenly increases, but that seems unlikely without a new OS to kick start it again...

In the meantime, count on most of the Roland dealers telling you exactly what they feel like, facts or no... You can hardly expect them to tell you something is no longer in production if they are trying to sell you something! Especially without a replacement for it, yet...
