I tried hooking up the Sd2 to the s900 to play midi files out of the ketron. I midi out from s900 to the in of the sd2. In the panel I found the midi selection page and selected output for song. I tried playing the midi but it came out scrambled. drums were missing, etc. Has any one ever tried this, if I can't get it to work, its going on ebay, the ketron sd2.

Mc,

I got it to work, but ran into the same problem you did.

I was able to fix it by doing a couple of things.

I created my own midi out preset, so I could make sure what I wanted to go out would go out, I found that you need to turn PC change off because when you go back to the arranger functions it ends up sending commands that end up changing stuff on the SD2.

And it's always good to put in the begining of every midi file a GM/GS reset command

Hey Frank,

nice talking to you again, I will try it when I get home. So all of the adjustments are made within the s900?

The next thing I have to figure out is the hamonizer cut out when you switch it on and off. I know the hamonizer is a sore spot with everyone here at synthzone. But I like mine.

Thanks, talk to you soon.

THat is a problem, I've had it on every S900.

It seems it takes a a couple of milliseconds for the processer to turn on and off and there seems to be a hicup

Only way I found around it is to stop singing for a milisecond as you push the harmonizer switch.

Why can't these units work together seamlessly TOGETHER?

I gave up on MIDI hookups years ago it's just too AGGRAVATING!!

The problem is not with the SD2, but the Yamaha PSR S900. When you play a midifile from that unit, you need to make sure the only signal comming out of the Yamaha is that of the midifile.

If in doubt, try playing back that SAME midifile from a computer hooked to the SD2 and you'll see.

Thanks,

AJ

It is the S900, but I've tried as best that I could to get all of the tracks to come on as if the SD2 was playing from a laptop and it doesn't work. Since I need the keyboard more then the SD2, that went first.

But now I have a question, I want to purchase the Midjay Plus, will I have a problem connecting it to the s900 to use it as an arranger. The Midjay plus will be my replacement to the SD5 that I sold. I want to own a ketron again, but I'm not a midi guru when it come to midi transmit and receive, etc.

Since the MDJY has the SD5 styles it would be easier to transport.

Hi,
it appears Hammer is hoping to use a psr3k as a controller for Midjay.
