Anyone here own-play-or know much about the Roland E-09? I got asked by a parent at my daughters school the other day about this model (for some reason I feel like I've asked this question before too). My daughter has leaked that I used to sell keyboards to her friends at school.., and I've been getting some questions lately (as the Christmas season is getting closer).
Anywho, a parent asked me some questions about the E-09, but all I could do is essentially run down the basics of the spec list to her and then point her to the numerous vids on YouTube by "alpisofr" . (the new white version has really caught some attention too).
Can anyone comment on the sounds, UI, styles, pro, cons.., does it makes eggs and bacon, change diapers, ect?
Thanks Squeak

Zuki when you say thin.., is that related to the onboard speakers? I ask that because one of her concerns was the quality of the onboard speakers. Her last arranger keyboard was a Casio CTK and she has never played an arranger with a better speaker system. The first 10 minutes of the converstation I thought we were talking about a keyboard for one of her kids, but it was for her [This message has been edited by squeak_D (edited 10-25-2008).]

Cass I did, and I just got here. Thanks for the segue, Fran. From a beginner's point of view, the sounds have got to be impressive enough. My complaint was access to the various sounds, one at a time on screen, numerically. Same with the styles. One can choose between bass/drums, small combo, full combo, but only two variations per style. Sounds were pleasant and not the reason I sold it. As i said, the biggest problem was with the screen and access to sounds and styles. If you weren't aware of the order of things, you could look for minutes before finding what you wanted. Definitely not a 'live' keyboard. And again, I think the sounds were impressive, so I guess it boils down to how patient the player can be with the OS. And now, back to you...

HA! I thought the same thing as you guys. I suggested the GW-8 to her and the moment I mentioned it had no speakers she lost all interest. She wants the onboard speakers so she can move the board around the house to get away from the kids and her other half Yeah.., I agree the GW-8 is a much better bargain, and a decent set of phones would do the job for her, but she's dead set on having the onboard speakers. I also suggested one of the new Casio's too. I suggested she also look at the new Casio CTK-5000 http://www.zzounds.com/item--CASCTK5000 She mentioned the 16trk seq on the E-09 might be a bit much for her.., which is why I suggested the newer CTK. Her previous board was a CTK, but the 5000 is miles ahead of her older model.., plus she'll save several hundred bucks and the OS should be familiar to her.
