I've heard that this box has poor midi response to sequencers.

Anyone experience this?
thanks,
aaron

What do you mean by poor response?. Sorry for answering a question with another question. I bought a JV-1080 and I can share some experiences.

Well, it was kind of vague when I first read it. I believe it was something to do with sequencing; a delay in track playback.

All I want to be sure about is that it will respond to 16 channels at once and the timing will be right on...

Any problems in this area?

Thanks,
aaron

JV1080 could receive lots of data in a short time, but at exactly the same time. That's why you could try to edit your song and set the notes just a little out of time. In MIDI protocol, each note is sent as a "word" of 1's and 0's, and too many commands at the right time can cause problems. It is therefore not the JV who is to blame, but the 1980's MIDI standard!

I use the 1080 for sequencing. First a used it with the 01/w seq. Then the N364 and now I am using it with Cakewalk 8. Yes, in the first sequence I made (kind of a pop song) I used a string sound which involved two patches with 4 oscillators each. I made 4 finger chords (that equals 32 voices per chord). And there were some timing errors. I only did what Roald says. And my problem solved. I haven't had that problem ever since, so If I had to, I would buy the JV 1080 again. And sequencing is practically the only thing I do with it.

Make sure when you edit your patches that you use the voice reserve! I'm using cakewalk 7 and never had timing problems .
