uno . dos .. tres ... cuatro .... Hi, now itīs going on with two new Videos from Peter Baartmans on the YouTube-Channel: Adios Nonino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv6qkIYqS8Y&fmt=18 and Makin' Whoopee http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXPYs7lRY4U&fmt=18 Two songs, that shows the whole spectrum and versatility from Peter and the instrument. At this point in time i would to thank all the people who also work on this recordings and made the best possible together: on stage: Peter Baartmans and Joachim Wolf (the Guitar-Hero in "Music" ) behind the stage: "Conny" Vogel, Michel Voncken, Michael Mehlich, Peter "Pedda" Schips. ...last but not least to Stefan Erdmann for the german Interview (i know, but sometime it will be a new english video) Thanks for the great work and the trust! to be continued ... Thilo.

Actually the CVP-409, played by Baartmans in these demos, sells for about 6000 euros here in Europe and it has the same Megavoices the Tyros 2 has... no SA2, which will presumably be introduced in the next Clavinova series, so it's true that they lag behind the Tyros of at least one generation. But of course they are made of wood, look nice in your living room, have a powerful speaker system and so on...

Now does anyone think that these, despite Peter's excellent musicianship, are worth $2k+ MORE than a T3?
I don't hear it, that's for sure... I purchased a CVP 307 in 2004 for $5100. I think the 307 is out of production and has been replaced by the 407. Of course when I purchased the 307 it was from a friend of mine who was the Yamaha dealer in Rhode Island at the time. As I recall, others who didn't have a friend in the business could buy it as low as $5700 if they really shopped around, otherwise $6,000 was typical. I tend to doubt I could sell my CVP 307 for $5,000, I could be wrong. I would be very happy if I could sell it for $5,000. I also had a CVP 107 which I paid $3500 for in 2001, three years later when I sold it I got $1800 cash and the buyer picked it up at my home. I took a bath on it. But had no use for it. Yea, the T3 with it's new sound engine has some advantages over the CVP 307 as an arranger. Most of the time I play the 307 I use it strictly as a piano, in that case the 307 with its' graded hammer action has it all over the T3. I feel I'm very fortunate that an arranger with 61 keys does the job admirably for me.
It gives me more choices for an arranger, and in the case of the S900, a great bang for the buck 5 octave instrument, keeps my initial investment low, and allows me to get a new arranger every three years, thus dipping into the newer technology as it becomes available.
Luckily, there are 76 note arrangers available for the few that need/want them.
The old Roland G70/E60 and Korg's PA2XPRO come to mind, and seem to be doing an excellent job for the relative few who have them.
If that small niche is already covered, why would Yamaha have any incentive to make a 76 note arranger?
Strange, ain't it, that Technics did not make a 76 note portable arranger, yet many people get all misty eyed when they speak of their beloved KN's, and consider them some of the best arrangers ever made.
Ian

Well, I have looked at Roland's Arranger site, and I see the same posters over and over...only a few each with G70/E80/E60. Korg's site seems a little more populated. I'm glad Roland is #1 in your eyes Donny...you are on a roll till the next flavor of the week/month/year comes in...then it is rinse and repeat. In the meantime you will go out of your way to bash anything else...but, it's your way of legitimizing your present purchase. No problem...as long as it helps you cope. It has already been suggested to you by many of us on SZ the you should be learning how to use one arranger fully, instead of hopping around from instrument to instrument, and from brand to brand. Of course, when one mainly uses SMF then it becomes simpler...just have to remember where the "play" button is... Ian BTW...SZ is better known than you think.

One of these days you're going to start making sense to me, Donny...but actually I do prefer the norm. Stick with it, Sunshine...you're doing great. Ian

I don't know, Diki...I wasn't there. Just how old are you, anyway? The weather vane on the church spire, though made of iron, would soon be broken by the storm-wind if it did not understand the noble art of turning to every wind.~Heinrich Heine
