Should I spend $11000 on a XP 80 or
$550 on a XP 60 ??

What are the differences...

Just number of keys.

THe XP80 has 76 keys. The XP60 is the same as the xp80 with 61 keys.

The XP30 has the same synthesis architecture as the above 2 boards but has the session, orchestral and techno exp boards built in which is nice! It also has the BANK E patches found in the JV2080 which the XP60/80 doesn't have.

The LCD on the XP30 is like the JV1080's- only 2x40LCD but the other 2 have larger LCDS. The other 2 have 2 extra outputs plus a dedicated click output from the sequencer.
The XP30 only has stereo outs which is a huge shame IMHO especially if you have an external mixer and want to route separate sounds through external effects. For live use, only 2 outputs is plenty though!

I played the Fantom a while ago and concluded that its a very gimmicky keyboard- I especially hate the fact that there is no dedicated numeric keypad- although there are other ways to select patches easily I suppose!

However later on I went and had another good play on it and concluded that it's a very nice 'all in one' workstation if you don't need sampling. Also I like the face that just like with the JV2080 you can have up to 3 EFX plus dedicated chorus and reverb in performance and sequencer mode and the sequencer IMHO looks much better than the ones in the XP's. The screen is huge too (although not touch like a Korg Triton). I like the feel of the 76 keys and also the D beam controller. Yeah and there is a definete improvement between the sounds of the XP's/JV's and the Newer Fantom and XV's- tthe new samples are great (especially those steel guitars and drums!) and they sounds 'cleaner'- (yes I own both a JV1080 and XV3080 and can hear a difference). However The new Fantom is not very expandable with only 2 SRX slots and 1 JV slot. This is ridiculous IMHO. Roland should have really been much more generous here and given us at least 4 (if not more!) srx slots plus at least 4 JV slots (like the 5080). Why they skimped here is beyond me. Also why they skimped by halving the polyphony to only 64 notes from the previous JV's is also beyond me!!!!!!!! Oh well.
