read this and seems to be accurate...

this new AUDYA seems to have started with 64mb expandable to 256mb, but NOW

looks like its gonna come base 1GB ram, expandable to 4GB,

and SEEMS to come with Intel Core2 Duo processor....

this is what i read... if you read portuguese go here :
http://ketronaudya.wordpress.com/2008/10/30/alteracao-na-memoria-de-sampler/

would this not mean that the AUDYA would be so VERY expandable in styles, sounds, etc, so much more than ANY other arranger on the market?

is this THE arranger that we've all been waiting for? or at least lots have been waiting for?

Are you talking about the Mediastation Pro OR from the new coming soon Mediastation Pro Extreme?? http://www.alternate.de/html/product/prodPicPopup.html?articleId=229291&artno=GFEA10

8Gb RAM base: http://www.lionstracs.com/demo/MSgui/memory8.jpg

expandable Up to 64Gb.
Start from a single or dual QUAD Core: http://www.lionstracs.com/demo/MSgui/cpuquad.jpg

If still not enough of sounds, remember also the multiple ASIO host: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlADLhdqffE

Integrated now the new Karaoke engine/library, with the Mp3 and Video CDG support to 3 independent VGA: MS display, external TFT and DVI/HDMI TV.
the engine used is this: http://www.kibosh.org/pykaraoke/index.php

in my 20 years as a musician , i've never seen anyone with this karaoke, sampler, mp3 file player, or whatever you wanna call it,

i don't consider it your typical arranger, but that's just me...

i wonder what has more buttons, lights, sliders, controllers, this or a Boeing 777

put this next to your christmas tree and no need for lights, instant light show...

that's not to say that it's not cool and all.

i've never even seen this in ANY music store either,

so comparing the top brands, or shall i say well known brands that make typical arrangers, Korg, Yamaha, Roland, Ketron.... this AUDYA will have more memory...

The prototype of a software arranger/organ was shown in about 1998 by Creamware, and used standard computer hardware with a Creamware Pulsar DSP (Sound) card.

In 1999 Wersi took over the development of the project (Still using the Creamware scope software and Pulsar card) and the OAS range of instruments was born.

Current OAS instruments use both Scope and Hypersonic software sound engines, and from the beginning (2000) could also directly use Akai samples and VST instruments.

So as you can see, the Audya design is nothing new.

Regards

Bill

It may not be new except in one critical regard....

In comparison to MS and Wersi, I would be VERY surprised if the ROM styles suck...

That being said, I'd still like to know how long it would take to load up that 1GB, let alone 4GB! And I would also like to know if they have included any sample 'standards' for import, GIGA or Akai, etc..

A gun with little ammunition or one that takes ten minutes to load won't help you much in a firefight!

my motif XS was an absolute PAIN in the A55 having to upload just 256 mb of samples every time u turn the machine on.

First u have to wait for the standard OS to boot up and THEN u need to wait for the samples.

If i even had something like 2gb or more of samples to load i would never want to turn the keyboard off!!!

its embarrassing too when u turn your keyboard on in front of people and they are like - whats it doing? and u have to explain that its LOADING sounds lol

I hope the Audya / mediastation and whatever else have alot more smarts to speed up these load times...

LionTracks, mine is, a Quad 3.0 Intel Core Duo
with 32 GB of RAM and runs on Leopard 10.5
Synths are dying breed. I dont mean to put the
machine down i am just saying reality about
MediaStation or Audya or any. By the way nice
demos but to me, i dont think i would use a single
style or sound from factory, i still have to
redo from scratch...there is no point to me.

Load times are not a problem if it uses standard computer hardware, as 1GB of samples takes only a few seconds to load up, although the OS takes longer of course. (Interestingly at the last keyboard festival I noticed that the new Wersi Apollo, (which loads about 700 -800MB of samples at boot up) actually booted up quicker then a standard Korg PA800)

Is there something comparable to SA voicess on the Audya ?

The style department will certainly sound good (tough the sound quallity of the video is not to good for a musicall instrument demo, but that will certainly be the video and not the keyboard)

leezone,

Take any arranger on the market and it has the same "Cockpit" affect as the MS.

The features in that keyboard are the direct result of the manufacturer listening to us musicians and what we want out of a keyboard and are very contemporary to what other manufacturers are offering.

Surely over your vast 20 years of experience you've seen an evolution of electronic gear built for the "computer" generation of musicians??

Heck, what about spinet/console organs of 20 years ago? They had more buttons and knobs than the Mediastation.

Why don't you play one and see why those buttons are actually needed?
