Well.. Looks like CD 7 is upon me.. Not sure were I want to go with the new tunes on this adventure.. Anyway, had a lot of fun making a funky R&B tune up.. Check it out and let me know if you like (maybe I'll do more of these on the next CD)..

I like the music that you post, yet it seems to my untrained ear that you are "straining" your voice to reach those high notes. What would be the result if you transposed maybe 3-4 semitones down?

Also wouldn't that be "Too tired of love" instead of "to"?

Very nice, as are all your vocals. I don't agree with the previous poster (personal taste) about lowering the key; I think the range is perfect for the effect you're going after. You're probably one of the best singer/songwriters on the board and definitely 'pro' quality.

Constructively, I would do three things:

1) I would have the 'shadow vocal' sitting further back in the mix. Try lowering the volume and adding more reverb (to give it more of a 'wispy' quality). Automated faders are probably needed here - Diki (or someone with more recording experience) could probably tell you how to do this.

2) Get a real sax player to do the sax part.

3) Shorten it by about 45 seconds. As with all tunes, stop it before the excitement starts to subside or it starts to get too repetitious.

Good effort, good voice, good arrangement. Keep up the good work.

By now you should know that I am a fan of your work, and this tune does not fail ...

As I have said in the past, your vocals are reminiscent of Sting - not a bad thing at all, except that it could be a drawback in trying to make it on your own as a vocalist ... as perhaps others here such as 'Manny' and 'Kingfrog' have found out ...
In this one, I also thought I heard a little Donald Fagan/Steely Dan ...

While I agree with chas on most of his points, I respectfully disagree on the key you are singing this in ... I do think it could be lowered 1 or 2 semi-tones and still achieve the same effect ... but that's JMHO ...

As for the length, as Billy Joel said in "The Entertainer":
"It was a beautiful song
But it ran too long
If you're gonna have a hit
You gotta make it fit
So they cut it down to 3:05"

Only songs played in 'dance clubs' can survive being 5 minutes or more in length ...

But overall, another very nice effort ...
