Well, I was just wondering if someone could give me some comments about the JV80 Techno Expansion Board, since I'm interested in making dance music but don't know if the waveforms/patches are worth the $230.
Does it have analog-like waveforms?, What about the drums and basses?

If you are looking for excellent-Techno sound, forget about the expansion board. The loops really sucks, the kits are bad too. I have one and all I discovered is just a few good EFX patch and pads. Besides that, nothing is worth mentioned about the board. If u want to check out dance board, check out the Hip Hop or the up and coming House Collection maybe. If u r lucky enough, u may also check out the Dance board, though it is discontinued.

As far as I am concern, all the cards after the Session board sounds good, of course with the exception of the Techno card. The Roland sound design team have weird and outdated taste for Techno, don't they? I hope this will not happen on the House Collection card, which is due to be released in 2-3 months time over here, in Malaysia.

Yes the techno board overall is not worth it- some nice leads pads and basses but nothing outstanding and the loops are useless as tits on a bull!!!!

I have the MDC1 dance expansion module which is the same as the dance card (discontinued) and this is awesome although it's starting to sound a bit dated now.

Wait and see what Roland have in store with the new house collection card- I'm waiting with baited breath for this also!

The hip hop card is fantastic but is much more of a different style to the other cards- well worth it though. The loops are to die for!!!! Cheers.
