Old habits are hard to turn they say, and even if my house is well protected I most
often forget that I got the electrical and wiring installation rebuilt some years
ago. I'm turning off and unplug the same way as before .....

Regarding the telephone line, YES!!
T-storms very often send overvoltage through the copperlines, and too many people
get the DSL modems, routers and LAN cards damaged because it's only the mainpower
kable who is disconnected.

I dont know bout others but this is the story: My MacPro G5 last time was shut off in March of 2008,
my Laptop in May last year, even though us a laptop i dont take it out, my synths such as Motif XS, M3
or Phantom, PA800, SX3000 and other stay on for 3-4 day, 3 pairs of studio monitors havent been shut
off for years and all kinds of things. Not only about electricity but is it bad for the electronics?

The main cause of fires is electronic left in stand-by mode. From a purely safety point of view don't leave things on standby with the exception of (Sat & Freview boxes) which need to be in stand-by to update themselves.

Let me guess. Because of age and deteriorating mental abilities (from prolonged arranger KB playing), you've forgotten where the on-off switch is. Hint: leave little notes to yourself; you'll save a ton on your electric bill.

I don't. I figure the weakest electronics in my houses have always survived electrical storms for the past 40 years, the better stuff has more robust switching power supplies and I have never lost as much as an alarm clock or light bulb filament in a thunder storm so why would I worry about something with a far better power supply. A direct hit will take everything out no matter what is between the wall and the unit.

If its really bad I will unplug the Goose Juices powering the Studio stuff, but most of the time I leave everything plugged in and off.
Now brown outs are another story.I believe they are worse for electronics. They WILL cause power supplies to overheat. If I lived in Brownout country I would have a battery back up unit keeping the current level up.

I was just fighting with my roommate about the electric bill.
But the thing is, i dont forget, i leave it on on purpose cuz
i am too lazy to turn everything back on tomorow and
trust me there is a lot to turn on.
