Fellow Zoners – I put down my saxes long enough to record a video of me playing “Rainbow Connection” on the Tyros 2. If you are a Kermit fan (or just want to see me groping over the keys!)… here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq3qNxor5l0&feature=channel_page
Just hooked up my little webcam a week ago and still trying to optimize the vids. Any and all comments welcome.
What inspires me so much about arrangers is that just a dozen or so years ago, I had to tether 2 keyboards, 3 sound modules and a drum machine together to get this kind of capability. The technology has indeed come a very long way since then. I am but a work in progress but in the final analysis - just so #$@# glad to still be here to experience it.
Happy Spring to y’all!
Randy

You may have to change your 'signature' to "keysman" ... ... nice work ... very pleasant ... I may have to add this to my CC repertoire and see if anyone catches it ...

Hey Guys - thanks for the comments! Synth Zone is definitely been a great "school" for me. I read myriads of the your posts and they have been instrumental in giving me a wealth of insight. And listening to all you pros also gives me the motivation to keep working, which I will certainly be doing.
Love playing the sax for sure. But I also very much enjoy the arranger. Once the yard work's done, the wife usually doesn't mind me spending most of my free time making some form of music and for that I am grateful too.
Thanks again for the comments and hope your week will be a great one!
Randy

LOL - I thought for sure you were going to put that arranger on auto pilot and fire up the sax - darn! But it was good playing on the keys Thanks for sharing.

Guys - thanks for listening and commenting! Zuki - I plan to do a "split video" in the near future - Once I get the trick down w/my movie editor, I'll split the accompaniment on the T2 and the sax on the other side. Should be fun! In the meantime, I have put a few other (sax) video's out on the Youtube site.
John - I do so appreciate your words and I don't take them lightly. The sax is part of me and I will never get enough of it. Hopefully soon I will be beyond the government work and working from the soul every day! Thanks again for listening and the nice words!
Donny - Thanks! This is one of the first songs I played on the Clavinova - bought the clav for my wife and after a dozen nights til 3 AM with the headphones on, well I got addicted to it. So glad I did!
Thanks again guys! Randy

Hi Randy
That was very enjoyable. Accordian is a nice sounding instrument when played right and you're doing a good job of it
Also listened to some of your sax videos, as a horn player myself, I especially like your tone, phrasing and inflection. That's what it's all about and you've got it. Only thing better than this is hearing you live which of course I've had the pleasure of doing
I noticed on one of the sax videos you did your own backing track. Nice. Are you doing all your own backing or do use midi's too?

Guys - thanks again for the listen! Scott I have a few midi tracks in my playing list. I use a lot of Aebersold and Hal Leonard tracks and have done a dozen or so backing tracks. I also use some karaoke tracks (usually require editing to remove solos). For example, on the YouTube site, the "I'm in the Mood for Love" track is a Barbara Streisand karaoke track (which I removed the instrumental solo from). The "Rio De Janeiro" one was a home brew track that I did about 3 weeks ago and last weekend I did another track that I have always wanted to do by a sax player named Leo Gandelman (Brazil). I did a backing track of his tune called "Bossa Rara". Here's a link to just the backing track for 'Bossa Rara': http://www.box.net/shared/up6yxha146
I also like the sound of the styles on the Korg PA series keyboards - I think they would be great for doing up smooth jazz backing tracks as well.
