I bought a set of little Podium non-powered 8's and had a chance to use them twice yesterday.

Powered the 8's with a 100 watt Crate for the first job, which was piano only (actually, the little NP-30) at a retirement luncheon for a city official....100 people.

No problem with range, volume....anything.

Then, I used them powered by an 8 channel, 200 watt Yamaha for a patio job at a local country club. 250 plus people. Used a Godin nylon string, a GW-7 (for piano and vibes) and a vocal mic with my trio.

These things were only $69.95 plus freight.
I intend to use them as satellites at a dinner club I play and for some of the upcoming outside gigs. I'll put them in two different dining rooms at the club, line out of the Carvin head I use and into the Crate for power.

Not the prettiest speakers I've had, but plenty rugged and serviceable. I generally have to trash one power head and one set of speakers a summer (rain, drunks pulling them over...once, a "customer" actually pushed a cabinet into a swimming pool). I really didn't ever expect to use them for anything but fill, but had these two low volume jobs and took a chance.

No handles, but light enough to add as monitors or mains in the right application.

I like them!

I'm sorry Russ, you must be lying. They didn't cost nearly enough and most people have never heard of the brand. Also, there are far better and newer amps available.
How can you go out there masquerading as a pro and have people see you use that no-name gear?
SHAME, SHAME!
You're probably not using a Yamaha or Steinway Grand either. I'll bet it's dropping notes out of the complex chords.

Russ, nice talking with you today. If you want powered for something, go for the 10s with a handle - awesome

OK, if these things are that good, then they must be a blind brand or a brand clone? Which is it? What else just out on the market are the twins of these speakers? Not that it matters cuz it seems the Podium is making a name for itself.

Don,

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm in your post?
