Is it possible to eliminate the velocity or touch response of the roland xp 30 and the roland xp 80.
I am planning to buy a roland xp 30 or xp80.
What would be the best choise.
I am only interested in very good sounds.
Thanks,
Alain

Certainly on the XP80/60 you have infite control on the level of touch sensitivity and velocity.

Can it also be done on the roland xp-30.
I think I will buy the xp-30 in stead off the xp-80.
Is this a wise choise ?

Thanks,
Alain

Sorry, but I cannot comment on this.
I have an XP60, which I like, but I have never used an XP30.

look in systems.....for this.

get xp30 if you want more sounds.......has techno session and orchestral boards built in. get XP80 if you need the inbuilt sequencer

Thanks for your reply.

I bought a roland xp-30 and I hate it.

I am selling...as soon as possible.
I hate Roland...I will never buy a roland again.

Greetings,
Alain

Alain, why do you hate Roland?Perhaps too complicated at first to edit and get around?[judging by your initial questions, I take for granted you may not be experienced].Surly it can't be bad sounds..

Yes I'm inclined to agree with the Fran. I have an XP60 but I did test the XP30 before I bought this and it was the toughest decision.

The XP30 is designed and more of a control synth than the XP60/80 so it relies on an external sequencer. That's it's only shortcoming and as far as the onboard sounds are concerned I doubt you'll get better value for money anywhere.

This is a proffesional and contempory peice of kit plus all synths have learning curves. Enjoy what you already own and don't go back to square one buying a different synth. The Possibilities are infinite.

Best wishes Alain

Are there somewhere on the net sites with tips or tutorials for the xp30.
As I hear from you ...the instrument isn't so bad.
I only need this instrument as second instrument....I am only interested in good sounds.
I also bought the expansion card supersound set and a smartmedia card 4mb.

Thanks ,
ALAIN

The layout of the XP-30 is pretty much the same as the XV-88's. Even the screens look the same... Not very inventive from Roland to make their newest synth look like an 'old' XP-30, to my opinion. But maybe this uniformity is good though...
It took a while before I was able to navigate through all the screens of my XV-88 efficiently, but after a few weeks it wasn't a big problem anymore. I assume it will go the same with an XP-30. Patience is a great virtue...

Hello,

Maybe I will keep the xp-30 .....the sounds are good and there are plenty off them but I find it difficult to manipulate.
The manual is not a big help.
The only thing I am interested in is selecting and finding voices .
I am not interested in changing the voices...I bought the expansion board supersound set and I have still a slot free for another one so I have voices enough.
I also bought Volume 1 fro patchman so voices no problem.

I only want to know a good manner off selecting quickly voices , eliminating the velocity (touchresponse) and loading soundbanks (as the Volume 1 from Patchman) in the xp30.
I also have a smartmedia card 4mb and a smartmediacard reader on my computer.
Can I copy patches to the smartmedia card and load them into the xp30 ?
Are there sites on the net where I can buy patches ?

A lot off questions...but you're answers will depend if I keep the xp30 or sell it.

Thank a lot,
Alain

This is Theodore from Greece. Turning off velocity response is very easy, in fact you can specify a fixed value for velocity no matter how strong you press the keys. Here is ho to do this:
1. Go to "System" mode
2. Select the "Keyboard" page (button 3 on the Tone Switch menu)
3. There you can find the settings for Transpose, Sensitivity, Velocity and Aftertouch.
4. Regarding Velocity, set "Sens" to Light and "Vel" to 127 (highest). This should do the work. Bye!
