"I asked Bose if only one extention can be used for my Compact L1....

This is the reply from Bose.....

We made the decision to be specific in the manual by stating that both extensions must be used when the system is used in its extended position. It is our belief that this provides the best sound quality for the majority of extended use applications.

Using only one extension will not harm your system but is not generally recommended.

Thanks
Neil from Bose"

It's all about ear hight. Bose show the system with both extensions in for fully standing guitarists. Then they show the collapsed system on a table for a keyboard player... both at ear hight.

Want to get the sub on the floor, where it will work better, and STILL hear well? Use however many extensions it takes to get it to ear hight... If the system works fine closed up AND with two extensions, it'll work just as well with the one...

Ear Height, Shmerheight, buy it, use it, enjoy it, or hate it, it's just another tool to make music with for your needs....
either it sounds good or it doesn't. thought I'd throw that out before the pee pee starts to flow!
