Bill,

Fine job on this one...I agree with you that the overall volume was a bit low, but the balance was good...nice clean vocals, and a simple but effective background.

This song "The Nearness of You" is an incredibly beautiful song. I knew it from way back, but I never gave it much thought until you guys started talking about it. I'm glad it was brought up. Been playing it on the piano for days now, I never get tired of it as you can do it in so many different ways. I also downloaded the Norah Jones version. Loved it until I heard Marian McPartland do it. She embraces that song for all it's worth. If you can, have a listen. You can find it online on many sites.

Bill, I don't have high-speed and your contribution is 5mb+ so, sorry, I'm going to have to pass on this one.

I'm looking forward to more entries and when they're all in I'll go to the library and hear them.

Lucky

Mine will be in before deadline, Donny... and no-one appointed me Judge. I didn't give my honest opinion of your entry, why am I supposed to do it for others'? If you want this jam to fail, Donny, you'll have to get your own hands dirty...

It's a jam, not a contest.

Donny, the comment about it being over an SMF has nothing whatsoever to do with what I thought of the performance.

Plus, there was nothing WRONG with using an SMF, and it was only my confusion about using commercial SMF's from the previous thread that made me so against using them. Cassp cleared that up, they are OK, you are good for takeoff. Instead, you have sniped and harassed this thread since your decision to take your ball and sulk (and before, to be frank).

Either you are IN, or leave this thread alone (i am not the first to suggest this). I only posted the address of your entry because there ARE those that wanted to hear it, and it is on a public site as a demo of yours. Feel free to link me to any of my work... my hands ARE clean. I want this jam to work.

I don't suppose you are going to give up with your vendetta, but beware... more people are laughing AT you than WITH you on this one...

Bill, fine job. Can't believe you weren't familiar with this classic. Maby it's your age showing, you "young pup".

Enjoyed it!

Cass, Eddie, Ian and Russ...

Thanks for the kind words. Like I said, this tune was new to me...I'm sure I've seen it in various books along the way but it never caught my eye.

I hope to hear more feedback and more submissions from other SZ members.

I'll work on the volume thing, lol...
