Fran, I just had a listen to your un-conga'd(?) version of Masquerade and something seems out of whack. There's this superlight groove/funk rhythm section going, but the sax part (if you separate it off from the rest) seems to have more of a smooth swing feel to it.

If there is an SMF being used here, and I have no clue about these things, how does this juxtaposition of meters come about? Or am I even hearing it right? Anyway, in agreement with others, the guitar IS lovely.

Fran.....I'm not sure I understand all these messages here.

Is that a Masquerade SMF that you worked over or did you put the whole thing together from scratch? If it's a MIDI file....what tracks did YOU play on? Or....what tracks did you just edit?

That's great guitar playing, but to be honest it's so good it sounds like it was done with a MIDI guitar.

I did not know either song so I downloaded
an artist singing ‘Masquerade’ from youtube
and picked out the melody. I had trouble with the
Chords, as I didn’t have a Buskers Copy.
I finally down loaded some guitar tab chords
and modified them.

I used Beguine and Rock Cha Cha styles,
plus multi pads, sang and recorded into
the psr-s900, changed to a mp3.

With the great contributions you have already had,
with Masquerade
I’m just pleased this is not a competition.

Fred - the link works, but I sure could do without all the mumbo-jumbo they have on there. But the files work.

For someone who never played or sang this song before and learned it off a chord chart, that's pretty darn good. Some of the phrasing was a little sloppy, but I think it would improve over time. I would chop the intro and ending; they don't fit your adaptation. I liked the organ solo section, but would not keep it with that style. I understand the original style wouldn't work either, so maybe you have the makings of two versions here. Lastly, I really liked the backround comping and would like to hear more of that. Thanks for sharing, Fred. Another fine rendition from you. I think you should become our resident theater organist.
