Hi All,

I would like to buy a good quality studio microphone for my home studio within the range of 200-400$. Any suggestions/recommendations will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for your valuable inputs!

Audio-Technica

Samson

Audix

I sell these 3 and they all make great mics at great price ranges.

I would never make a mic recommendation without first knowing what the intended recording source is going to be.

For example: "I will be recording male tenor range vocal parts, plus occasionally my acoustic guitar."

Or whatever.

So please tell us more information.

This microphone will be used only for vocals.

For a great handheld mic at a fantastic price, check out the Samson Q7 reviews at ClickHere

If you can use a headset mic, then my choice is the Crown CM-311A. For reviews Click Here

Good Luck,

Gary

But he said 'studio', not live, Gary... (how you doing, BTW?)

Not sure I would go for a headset for the studio, and, although I have used my EV N/Dym767a on a few home projects, I wouldn't really consider it a 'first choice' for studio use.

There are some nice inexpensive Rode's you might look at. I honestly suggest that this question might be better asked at a home recording forum, though.

Thanks for asking Diki--I'm doing pretty good, still a bit sore in the groin area, and trying to keep what little sanity I still have.

I've used both mics for recording and both produced good to excellent results. A few years ago I posted some identical songs on the Synthzone done with the Q7, E-855 and CM-311A, and asked if anyone could identify which songs were done with which mic. It was pretty much a tossup if I recall.

I guess a lot of this will depend upon the studio environment itself, and of course, the singers vocal quality.

Cheers,

Gary

Thanks for the replies. How is Sterling Audio ST 55 Comparing to Samson Microphones?
