Interesting, but pure horse hockey. For instance, a quote from the article...."Jazz fans were viewed as friendly, emotionally stable people". I can say with pride that I have never been accused of being either. Same goes for (self-described) 'grumpy' ol' Russ .

Actually, I have a problem pre-judging people based on these kinds of indicators....just too many exceptions.

Social sites are simply an area for people to misrepresent themselves. If some bozo professor thinks he can garner accurate data from those, I suggest he try online dating!

It wouldn't take long for him to realize that these kind of sites are where people show you what the WANT you to see, not how they actually ARE...

Don't ever try to judge a book by it's cover. It just doesn't work.
Remember also that in these forums people tend to show you the cover they want you to judge them by. Obviously that doesn't work either

I don't know. I always found what people passively reveal in their various likes and dislikes, their mannerism, their choices, etc to be pretty accurate (but as a generalization).

Example: the kind of music they listen to, their favorite color, the car they drive (and the color of the car), movies they watch, their diet, their religion, political leanings, how they dress, their job and education, even their horoscope sign...and the list can go on.

Even I could be judged pretty precisely by much of the above measures.

My best example would be "Classical Music" and particularly "Opera" purists. You can read them like a book.

I don't know about that either, Lucky. My aunt was a soprano with the Royal Opera House Chorus at Covent Garden for thirty years. Guess where I heard my first B.B. King tunes.
