This board (and the pice tag no less) seem appealing to me. Major turn off is the stick instead of the pitch wheel.

Nick all thats available out here is the E model. I did ask when I got mine and Roland told the store the E was it.

In Europe (at least in Germany, Austria where I live) you can order and buy both models in big musicstores!

The model I want is the Asian version (GW-8A) because in looking at the voice list, I saw dozens of presets taken directly from Roland's World SRX card. With the kind of music I'm into, these kinds of sounds would fit the bill perfectly! Looks like I would have to order from a source in India.

I've been fooling around on a GW-8 today at my local Roland and Yamaha dealer. They're moving a lot of '8s, apparently, and cheerfully telling prospective punters there's no Yamaha to beat it on the value proposition.

They're right too. Yammie's contender to the GW-8 is the S550. The GW-8 falls right in between the S550 and the S700 though. It costs a little more than the S550.., but less than the S700. It has more features than the S550.., and it's a "give one take one" when comparing it to the S700 in terms of features.

Roland put themselves in a very good spot with this latest update to the GW-8 (AND FREE TOO).
