Thanks for sharing.
This guy also does a great job on Santana's Europa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQeyWPoXv3c&feature=channel

Please, please, please don't take this the wrong way or go into a retaliatory tizzy, as I'm merely giving my assessment of this performance. I assume that's why you posted it, right. Either there is something grossly wrong with my speakers or that is one of the worst emulations of a guitar I've ever heard. Since I know that the Tyros 3 has good guitars, I have to chalk it up to the player. Since you and Eric both liked it, I guess different people hear different things. Donny, please don't fire back a nasty response. I'm just giving my opinion of this performance. I know we're supposed to pat all Synthzoners on the back, but hopefully we don't have to do the same for every hack we find on YouTube.

I repeat, I'm NOT trying to stir anything up or start any kind of controversy. I just didn't care for that performance of Georgia. Europa either, for that matter. And I like both tunes (although I always thought Europa was a little contrived).

I have to agree with you Chas...I've heard much better guitar emulations on the T3 (and the S900 as well).

I listened without looking, and just let my ears do the judging.

The performance wasn't bad...just not impressive.

Some of our own members have posted better. Not that it is bad, or anything, just that it COULD be more idiomatic...

Donny ... thanks for posting ...

I think the 'problem' with the performance - and it is not 'bad' by any means - is that the player is reading the music and doesn't seem totally comfortable and relaxed with the song ... Perhaps if the player really KNEW the piece, the performance would come over better ...

When it comes to guitar emulation, I'll listen to DonM anytime ...

The nylon string guitar sound on Georgia is nice, as is the same sound on most every other keyboard these days.

The player mentions that he is trying to learn how to use proper guitar phrasing, more power to him. A couple of suggestions would be to lay off of the sustain pedal and use no more than six notes at a time.

I thought he did a fine job on Europa. Speaking of Santana, Carlos (and many others, but I saw Carlos do it first) does a 2nd string unison bend every now and then which I just love the sound of. I was able to program a lead guitar sound on my Pa588 that not only has normal pitch bend with the lever (left/right) but also I can get a unison bend by pulling the lever down and slowly releasing it. Very cool.

I have only heard one or two of Don's guitar emulations, and they were very impressive.

I have a feeling Don actually plays guitar. (the real deal?)

I'm happy to know about and hear these guitar emulations, but damn if I can do it. It must be a mental block thing. Just give me the drawbars and piano keys and I'm good to go; maybe a flute or trumpet solo now and then, but that's it for me.
