Look, I've always based a LOT of my views on the MUSIC I hear coming out of an arranger. Let's face it... the factory demos weren't made impossible by bugs. Somehow, magically, the thing worked. Certainly well enough to make some pretty amazing sounding demos (as well as Frankieve's stuff that he recorded).

Sorry Donny, but in MY world at least, buying a backup keyboard means buying a duplicate of what I have. Buying something else isn't buying a backup, it's buying something else... Plus, I don't feel like ponking down an extra $3000!

I've never disputed how GOOD the Audya sounds, OOTB. The problem for me is, I'm not really an OOTB guy (although I like the OOTB sound to be damn good to start with). I like to tweak and mess with my styles, change drumkits, change drum sounds, mess with the groove a bit. You can't do that on an Audya. It is what it is. I'd certainly LOVE to hear you do something on the S900, then do it on an Audya If I ever need a 'background' arranger, I'll definitely look at a Yamaha. But, so far, I like the high energy stuff a LOT more. I'll play that 'intimate' (read 'background') stuff when I get old!

Oh, and BTW... who converted the GW-8 stuff? Fran? 'Nuff said!

I've already got a few tweaked that are pretty damn good, definitely different to the G70 ROM styles (and a change is as good as a rest) but stylistically in the ballpark. Fran just needs to work on his Makeup Tools skills. Remember, I've HEARD some of his efforts with SMF's before

The trick with quite a few of the styles is to listen to the original. I will soon be putting up short MP3's of all the GW-8L's Style Variation and fill divisions, with the #4 complex Intro and Ending. So far, I've just done the Pop/Rock section (55 styles!). I am just waiting to find a site that can accept the large file (it's about 64MB) and host it for a long time (no point in doing this and it comes down quickly).

Once you hear what things are SUPPOSED to sound like, tweaking the style becomes easy. You've still got some work to do, but don't take Fran's efforts as proof they can't sound good, anyway!

OK, I'll set up a YouSendit account in the next day or so (got a busy weekend) and you can post it for all the tweakers out there. It's a folder of 56 short (about 1MB) 128kbps MP3's. I would have liked to do a better bitrate, but I knew that would make it too big a file. It's certainly good enough to pick out the sounds easily.

One thing it shows up is how poorly many of the GW-8's styles are mixed. Thank God you can now adjust them..! Especially the insert effect (MFX) on the style section. Un-freakin' believable! All the distorted guitars are cranked to the max, and the only way to turn them down is to edit the MFX because the darn amp sim is post main fader...

Sorry, guys, but I didn't have time to tweak them in the GW-8 first! What you hear is OOTB (though I DID push the drums a little, to help pick out the kit sounds)

My friend took it back tonight for some gigs, not sure when I'll get it back to continue the project. I'm only going to do the main styles, not the World section, as much of that relies on special kits and sounds that no other Roland has (except maybe the Prelude, which ought to be compatible, anyway). Still, about 80 or so to go!

To be honest, it only took me a two or three hours with my Zoom H2 to do it. I have said for a long time that having AUDIO examples of all the different arranger's ROM styles would help SO MUCH with doing conversions and tweaking. Time to put my money where my mouth is, I guess!

I only hope, once these are up, that some others with T2's or PA2/1x's or other arrangers (not sure how useful Ketron would be, though, with the drums in audio) could continue the project, and we get a database of ALL arrangers ROM styles in audio. The day that happens, style conversion will be a quantum leap easier to do....

I doubt it if anyone is going to add to this list there must only be 6 Auyda users who look at this site, the only man who took the problems seriously enough was Unionguy he sent his back, I am only waiting for OS3 and if thats not addressed all the issue,I am out, History has a bad habit of repeating it's self and Ketron have never come up with the goods in a timely fashion, I have little in the way of confidence, lets see hopefully this week with the Audya OS3 super soft upgrade.Ketron may prove me wrong and yet again I will need to show my bottom in Marks & Spencers window.

why do you insist on this OS3 being so small?
if it was small i would think they'd call it 2.0D, or 2.1

it's supposed to fix many issues and ADD lots of new stuff...

I don't from what has been said I thought it would be revolutionary, World changing and even mind blowing, but will it , I can't wait for a laugh. What do you think it will be. If Ketron want to take a good share of the market, it's got to be either very good or very cheap, that's life, it can be very cheap and very good also, but PA2x is very cheap and very good, compared to Audya so I am not sure how this one will go, perhaps ketron will just bump along the bottom with this one,they did have a bad start (their fault)I have just emailed the factory late last night asking if OS3 will be out this week, I will tell you if I get a reply. I don't know of any other industry that operates in this cloak and dagger fashion. Someone said if you have an Audya you have to put up with workaround the problems. Leezone, imagine buying a $100,000 BMW and every time you stop at a set of stop lights it stalls, the only time you would workaround is on the way back to where you bought it from.

if this is so, this will be a HUGE UPGRADE IMO
