Not that I'm an authority here by any means, but I've heard a lot of people complain abou the lack of punch in the kicks available on the Bass & Drums expansion board (SRJV80-10).

To add more punch and to get the kicks to sound like they should, just go into the TVF menu and set the Filter to PKG for peaking. After that, adjust the CUTOFF to around 30 or 40. Now, use the RESONANCE to boost the frequency, I would say to bring it up to 30 or 40.

You can adjust both the CUTOFF and RESONANCE to get varied results. For me, the CUTOFF usually works between 25 and 45. The RESONANCE works best between 20 and 40. The kicks should now sound a lot better, and you don't have to use an external EQ anymore for this application.

What do you all think of this? I hope you al found it useful.

Prolly a good idea...i must say i LOVE LOVE LOVE that ability to use cutoff and resonance in perf mode...simply awsome to be able to finetune your stuff without using extarnal stuff.

ps. i dont normaly use the bdrums on bass and drum card coz im not into that kinda music..except when im modifying loops. Another tip is to use that lofi compressor for cool trashy loops.

NP, you know that the Bass & Drum expansion board is not for "Drums & Bass" music right? The board contains realistic bass and drum kit patches to add better rendition of the real thing that aren't already ina Stock JV/XP or XV.

I used this method that I described earlier to beef up the kicks available in the rhythm sets and they work very well. I'm going to try to use the same method on the internal percussion (congas, etc) and see what they do.
