Diki was kind enough to send me a sample of a completed project he produced for a young sax player. It's in the Dave Koz style...smooth jazz, as far as approach, and Diki has every right to be proud as hell about his work.

I do lots of sound track work for large organizations, and I'd be proud to have him as co-producer on any of my work. In fact, we're going to do a joint project when the right one pops up.

The guy sometimes comes off as opinionated, but he really "has the goods". In fact, I'd put him in the top 5 here in terms of music and recording expertise, raw talent and experience.

I appreciate his valuable contributions here.

Thanks, guys. Slight correction, though. I didn't 'produce' this one, a good friend of mine, Shannon Wallace was producer. I did all keys and key arranging on this one.

Check out http://www.michaeljthomas.net/ for audio clips and a video. Live bass and drums and guitar (before anyone accuses me of buying an Audya!), but all keys were a combination of the G70, my K2500 (strings, mostly) and the odd software sound (Atmosphere). But mostly it's G70...!

Enjoy!

Diki - I knew Michael enlisted the strongest players in town on his team! You did a terrific job for him! Great work all around! You and your G-70 (and Michael!) ROCK!

Start packing, Diki. That's an offer you can't refuse.

That's some great music. Thanks!

Russ, I must admit I did a double-take when I read the topic. I was wondering what kind of surprise you were getting from a . . .never mind.

Hey Diki,

Very cool stuff! In what part of Florida do you live? I'm heading that way on October 29th from Cincinnati on my way to Captiva. I'd be into making a side trip if it isn't too far off the Captiva express.

Good job again on the keys and sounds.

Best Regards,

Dave

Although not my kind of music, I enjoyed the groove of this studio produced project....All I want to hear is Dike playing a few songs on the G70 solo one of these days now that would be a surprise ! ..

But he did! And we liked what we heard.

About Michael Thomas, the sax player...I think he sounds great. Very refreshing yet timeless music. My hat off to him, the producer and Diki.

We all know for a fact that, whatever I DO post will not suffice for Mr DiLeo

But I'm working on something done with no sustain pedal, MP3 backing and a 'Hanky Song' (or was that the 'Napkin Song'? so hard to tell the difference ) theme, so Donny can finally measure himself against something on the same level as the 'real deal' musicians he lumps himself in with

But playing great music with other fine musicians keeps getting in the way! I can't believe I keep getting sucked into these projects, when I could be playing 'La Paloma Blanca' on a PSR for the blue rinse crowd. Donny, how I envy you!

Dicki why can't you just pick any style on your G70 and play a song and post it?.
Is that so hard? Common we all do it everyday but you know that too... You just dissed the older senior audiences and again assume under the auspices of your renowned Crystal Ball that you know what I'm going to think & all the audiences I perform for. If I'm correct you yourself are border line "Blue Rinse" yourself or near to it as we all get older unless you have a magic potion for that too?....didn't think so! Enjoy your imagination at least that's entertaining to me.......BTW I have a nice pork shoulder in the oven cooking as we speak and in a few hours OMG it's gonna be delicious...now That's Da "Real Deal"

Truth be told, Donny, I don't want to post a solo arranger tune because I'm more interested in good music than in demoing a piece of gear to YOUR satisfaction. I've posted arranger only demos in the past. That's good enough for everyone BUT you...

How about, instead, I simply hound you to produce something done with other musicians to the standards that I consider the 'real deal'? We could be waiting FAR longer than you have had to wait for a new arranger only demo from me, I expect...

I could lend you a sustain pedal, if you need one

Ok Dike that answers my question just as I suspected & I didn't even need a
Crystal Ball.....you do your thing what ever that is & I'll do mine....& try to be nice to the Blue Rinse Crowd down the road it could hit you back in the ass....
